Looking for advice on who makes a good timing belt kit. Including a new water pump. Or should I spend the extra money and stay with original Toyota parts? Thanks in advance.

Aisin kits can be found on Amazon for $150+\-. It’s where I got mine and my mechanic thanked me for going OEM since it had all the markings he needed.

Who'd you take it to? I'm having a hard time finding local people who will let my supply my own parts.

I should just get over my fear and do it myself, but I just can't get there.

It is an involved procedure for sure. Find a competent wrenching buddy and team up on it. Get the FSM and or a Haynes manual and Git R Dun!

    The Hydraulic Tensioner

Also if some members recall there were bad batches of tensioners during a certain time period in the past,so make sure yours is not old stock

I’ve worked at a few repair shops and dealers and always saved the numbers of the good mechanics. Most of them will do side work for cash so that’s what I did. He is the head shop foreman of a BMW dealer so I knew my truck was in good hands.

Guess I'm rolling an OG tensioner. Great. Something else to silently obsess over until I change it.
