I would have every type of trap and poison in that garage to get rid of that problem asap.
Then i would be going absolutely nuts with this stuff around the garage

Someone said that the San Fransissy rats eat moth balls like breath mints...but IDK :rofl:

Others say a moth’s balls are so tiny the rats have trouble seeing them Bada ba boom!
Don’t forget to tip your waiter before you leave..

And for the squirrels - aka tree rats...bases loaded, boom! home run baby!!!

    Bright pink truck nuts.
I park mine outside. No issues with rodents though because I have a neighborhood wildlife patrol - a family of roadrunners living behind the back fence, and a massive barn owl likes using the chimney as a perch to hunt from.

When I had the Tacoma birds would build a nest in the engine bay near the washer fluid reservoir. Funny how fast they could build those nests after I ripped them out. But only happened a couple times and they moved on. No problems with the Tundra. Must be sealed up better.

Never had this issue on any vehicle, even when I had a mouse issue in the house.

Indoor/outdoor cat did in a few weeks what tons of traps, poison, etc... couldn't for a long time.

Knock on wood, they haven't gotten to my Tundra. My old 1993 pickup, they chewed on the mail fuel line that came up from under the truck to the fuel rail on the engine. Glad I caught it in time and it didn't rupture. Fuel injected engine, lot of PSI going through that hose. That truck was such a rolling pile of junk I looked under the hood, checked the oil, etc every time I got gas and had a fire extingushier behind the seat.

My old man has an extra car he parks outside(a 2000 Avalon, such an old man car lol). He texted me a picture of the engine bay one day after a squirrel had taken a ride on the serpentine belt. Looked like the squirrel had strapped some illegal firecrackers to his belly and yelled Allahu Akbar!!!

How did you finally resolve the rat issues? I notice dropping on my cover after the recent rain.

I washed and sprayed peppermint oil and they just came back. I have traps everywhere in my front yard.

Those damn rats... they used the plumbing like a highway and chewed through the walls where the pipes entered the back of the vanities in the bathrooms. They then proceeded to make themselves nice nests with the towels. Had professional abatement, they blocked every nook and cranny and trapped the rest. They never touched my Tundras but they messed up my '98 Chrysler Town & Country. Wiring harness and dash replacement. So I am using the peppermint oiled cotton balls in all the cars. Remember, if you use poison, they can eat it then crawl off to some spot you can't get to easily and die there, then start decomposing... remember that before using poison on them if they are under your house or in your garage. Just a friendly tip from someone who did that once...

There are no cats in my neighborhood, the coyotes eat them. It seems they don't eat the rats though...

Well, rats got my 17 Crewmax over the weekend. Waiting on the damage report. I don't think they got the main wiring harness this time, but plenty of damage. I hate freaking rats!

Had a mouse build a nest in the fuse box the other night, slacked on spraying the peppermint oil too long. Caught it with a snap trap the next night. Thankfully no damage. Rural, driveway, no cats.

Got this one the other night. My tundra parked for a month or 2. Rural area, some cats. Had to set up a blink camera to see when I put the snap traps in. Spent whole day cleaning everything. 20210331_200146.jpg VideoCapture_20210406-210143.jpg

Well boys never thought it would happen to me since my truck is always moving but I'm starting to find signs of some meeece in my truck. Chewed up receipt and some dropping in my cabin air filter. My only concern is if they get a taste for wiring. I'm currently tearing my truck apart looking for it.

I've been hit 4 times by squirrels at work.
I tried a bunch of different things but none worked.

All I get is what's wrong with your truck from people passing by lol.

Damage assessment is in replace main wiring harness, with labor, $4,800. Hell I might as well call it freaking $5,000. I'm so mad I could pee bullets! The freaking harness retails at $4,350. That is CRAZY. When my 2011 harness was replace the total cost was under $1,500. Same shop did that replacement. They are telling me that the harness price has skyrocketed over the past 5 years.

Left mine for a couple of weeks while I had my work truck out for a project. It was parked outside under a canopy. Little bastards got into my dash but luckily didnt chew any wires, I saw turds and stuck decon under the hood then found this little dead asshole in my blower. $18 cabin filter. The end.

Have you mouse-proofed your vent inlets after the infiltration?

Rodents chewed through the Knock Sensor Harness. Quoted $2k for the repair not under warranty of course. Spoke to the Service Manager at Cobb County Toyota today when I exchanged the sardine can (Highlander) for a Tundra Rental.
He said “to spray peppermint oil in the engine bay and to not take it into the woods or near bushes. And to place rat traps around my tires. to avoid any further Rodent damage.”
I’m an avid fly fisherman and park my truck off road all the time. I’ve never heard of such. Truck is a 2023 TRD OffRoad Trail 12k on the clock. Apparently the new Tacoma's are worse. Never had this issue on my '98,'02, and '04 Fords, they just had crappy transmissions.

RAV4 - mice damaged all of the washer fluid lines, twice, had to replace reservoir.

Sequoia - had to replace all washer fluid lines, droppings on top of engine cover.

    Both happened during winter time.

ETA: RAV4 was parked outside and Sequoia inside. Semi-rural area outside of Houston, near Humble.

Tundra and Sequoia parked in garage. I've seen evidence of mice behind the workbench but it is old. Nothing for them to eat so they disappeared on their own. No damage to the vehicles. We live in rural California and have had rats down in the barn at times (not for quite awhile though). Tractor and lawn tractor in enclosed shop, no damage to either of these.

We got rid of the rats using a combination of plaster-of-paris and sweetened instant oatmeal (both dry) placed in a 3" piece of PVC water pipe about 3' long with a "T" in the middle. They eat the combo, the plaster hardens in their gut and kills them later. The pipe makes it so cats, etc. can't get to it. Also, the dead rats have not been poisoned so if they are eaten by the barn rats it won't kill them as a result. Haven't had rats/mice for years.
