    Not necessarily.
    Adjustable's or built-in caster.
I think the Camburgs have built-in caster in the wrong direction.

Alright, I am on the ragged edge of pulling the trigger on 37’s...
    Regear or run it?

If gears are the only thing holding you back, and you don't tow much, I say run it. I've been on 37s with stock 4.30 gears for two years, and it performs ok, just some occasional gear hunting at 55mph or so. While I want to go to 5.29s, that process seems like a whole new can of worms, and could delay your decision even longer. Also, it's a lot easier to undo a tires decision than a regear, if you don't like it.

    Chris,
Do you have a pic of your BMC?
Mine looks similar to the pics I could find.
You said, to get close as possible to the bolt.
Will it matter if I cut back to the bolt itself?
I just presumed leaving that top plate alone was ideal.
I tried not to weld that plate.

Same. I added a pedal commander just to pick up some of the throttle lag and make it not seem so sluggish but I've also gotten 12.5mpg consistently since 37's. Not complaining.

I'm in the process of regearing, one thing I've learned is if your local shops aren't experienced at this, get Ken/Zuk @ gearinstalls.com to do it, there are hassle of sending your 3rd member and front clamshell, but he has been amazing to deal with, then all you have to do is re-install the units, downside is the downtime requires to send things over and back.

If you haven't bought yet, I would consider 17's if you can find wheels you like. if you go 0 you should clear all suspension.
17" tires a lot less expensive. I run a full spare and 5 tire rotation so it is a lot more $$$ for 18's and 18s far less options.
    I posted this before, but

    current Discount Tire prices

I am running Icon Billet Delta joints for UCAs. You can adjust them to rubbing should be less issue with BMC. Awesome UCAs but $$$$ (I couldn't help it on Cyber Monday)

I used to run Light Racing UCAs and they were even easier to adjust for alignment, I just wanted to go full Icon on my front suspension for looks.

This thread reminded me that I still have set of the LR UCAs. 30k on the UCAs themselves, but only 3k on the ball joints, which are the upgraded greaseable ones.
They are missing the washers for the ends of the bushings (damn shop tossed them and I didn't notice until later) but I am sure you could get at a hardware store or from LR themselves
sitting in a box ready to ship or local pickup in the Puget sound area

    PM me if anyone interested.

DAMN, I don't think I have ever hit double digit MPH... At least until after a lot of my build out for expo trips making her a big fat, gas guzzling pig.

I originally had a mild cut when i was running 34s. with the 37s I had to cut more and angle the bottom of the plate further away from the tire as you can see in the below photo. I have the relentless BMC plates. the back side of the plate is within an 1/8" of the horizontal plate with the bolt. in hindsight, I should have put the Relentless plate under the factory metal to move it back another 3/8" or so.

Right - I've never complained about it. About to add bumpers/rack/tent though so we'll see what the extra weight gets me.

Yeah steel bumpers F&R, 37" spare, canopy, RTT, winch, armor... Once you get there, I'm ecstatic with 9mph.

Yeah, my pics may be deceiving due to fresh paint.
I made my cut against the top mounting plate with bolt.
The thickness of the Relentless plate is all that’s sticking out.
I agree though, in hindsight, I would have given my self more room going under the factory, cut part.
Mine seems to be hitting higher up on the plate.
I’m not sure how affective pushing the bottom of the plate back would’ve been.
I was going for a clean look that all lined up.

I’m thinking I can go further forward with the Camburgs with a different alignment guy.
The guy I was using kept telling me castor was maxed out.

I guess after removing such a large hunk of metal from my frame, I was guessing the 33s would clear by a mile.

Not sure I can justify the funds for the delta joints.
I was looking at SPC or JBA.
I’m just not sure anyone around here can do a proper alignment with the SPC adjustments.
    I’ll have to call around.

    Pm coming your way.

    will can chat via PM

But for the thread, SPC for me was Great at alignment in both my 4Runner and Tundra. With the Tundra, it was easy to run 37s with my BDS lift (with BMC) with the SPC. When I first added my Icon Deltas the shop didn't dial them in right and I have run on my fender liner whereas I didn't with SPC. I am getting the Icons adjusted later this week.

Weighing in on @Hightide s recent posts. Needs a more aggressive BMC, like no material forward of the bolt head and angled towards the back of the truck at the bottom. SPC uppers should be just as adjustable as the heimed uppers except the heimed uppers are "infinitely" adjustable between settings. The SPC are adjustable in steps but should be able to get a wide range of adjustment over the built in caster arms. They do require a good alignment shop/tech. OR what I've done on my 4runner is set them up where I thought they should be, take it for a "free alignment check" then come back and adjust again. The other thing I've done is to tell the shop they don't need to adjust the uppers if they'll allow you to bring it back under alignment warranty until it's set correctly. Then just keep adjusting the SPC's in the parking lot and taking it back in until you get to:

    close to zero camber
    zero toe
~5 degrees + caster with the lower arm adjustments set to push the lower ball joint as far forward as possible to avoid body mount contact. (front adjuster all the way inboard, rear adjuster all the way outboard)

    Thanks!
    Really good info.

I wish I could find my last alignment sheet.
He was at 1° caster, if I remember correctly, and kept telling me it was maxed out.

    Looking at some SPCs.

If they’re that easy to adjust, I can do what you said, and set them myself.

Also, guessing cutting that top plate the bolt is mounted to isn’t an issue then.

Agree with @blackoutt I just adjusted the SPC myself and then firestone was always able to hit proper alignment from there... also huge plug for lifetime alignment!

glad you have had success with their lifetime alignment, I have gone to 3 different locations and not had good luck at any. Last year my steering wheel was turned 45 degrees to go straight, truck pulled dangerously hard left. I went to an offroad Truck shop on the far side of town the next morning to have them redo the alignment - $80 for alignment, plus $40 in Uber fees to get to and from work that day. A few months ago another location broke a tie rod while I was waiting, I had to have my wife come pick me up as it was going to be at least 4 hours till they could get the part delivered after i waited almost 2 hours. The alignment was still out of spec for Caster and toe. Firestone reimbursed me for the alignment at the truck shop and they covered the replacement tie-rods and labor, but the hassle of having to do everything twice is not worth it to me. Now I have SPC UCAs , so i can only imagine how bad they would mess up the alignment

Wow, that sucks! I have had nothing but good luck with my one Firestone location in Seattle.
I probably average 5-6 alignments per year, I feel like Firestone corporate must hate me though. I only know of one off-road shop in Seattle area and it's 40' away from me, so I am lucky that my Firestone is decent

I think it’s touch n go in our area.
There’s a location close to me that I wouldn’t let align a bicycle.
There’s a location that’s across town that a few guys have recommended.

I think in this game it’s a matter of finding the right guy.

hahaha I was lucky, I purchased my truck used and it already had this chop done to it, definitely an aggressive chop, so thankfully haven’t had to redo it.

Also if anyone is interested I have Relentless fab chop plates I can provide if someone pays shipping, don’t need them and am clearing out the garage.
