I’ve known this car for 25 years!

My buddy has owned it since he was 15, he turns 40 in May. We blew it up just out of high school and it sat. Finally got the motor built after many years of contemplating. Nice mildly built 390 BB. heads, cam, stall, gears(Lincoln 9” with disc brakes), headers, MSD, reverse valve body on the C6. We also ditched all those vacuum lines for the headlights and went with electric motors and a vacuum pump to compensate for the cam, moved the battery to the trunk. She runs pretty good! By our guesstimate around 450 hp. It’s now living a nice dry life in Arizona!

    Function before sparkle.
Power comes from inside the cab (through the grommet above the fuel tank from the inside), under the rear drivers side kick plate as described well in this thread:

    https://www.tundras.com/threads/2018-cargo-light-wire.21253/

Ground came off of the drivers tail light as it was easiest.

If anyone can dig up a connector which this pink wire feeds into and take a photo which shows the part number, I could probably do some T taps for it.

I have a thread on TW for bed light T taps (I have those connectors) but so far no takers.

    Happy to help out here...

Finally received and installed my backordered CVT 79" Hybrid Awning that matches my CVT Mt. Shasta Hybrid RTT. I used the Victory 4x4 awning hangers on my rack and they worked perfectly. Really happy to make this addition to my overlanding project rig.

How do you like the Rain X ones so far? I broke one of my oem blades during the ice storm in February. Went to lift the blade up to clear some snow and the damn thing snapped. So I put some cheap Napa ones on and those thing suck terrible.

Haven't used them yet. I know they will be ok brand new but I too am curious how they hold up in about 5-6 months.

Yessir. I didn't want to rid these rims, I really like them so I did whatever I needed to do to run 35s.

I had spacers on my Tacoma for 8+ years and no issues, some people speak really negative about using spacers

Honestly I really love the look too so it is a Win Win

Thanks, @WestexSBK! I appreciate your feedback. I have a 2017 SR5 Double Cab and I really haven't been driving the truck with loads and it's always on the pavement. Shocks and etc are stock. The truck currently has 18" steel wheels and tires. However my mechanic has a set of new 20" Aluminum wheels and tires like yours for $1000. So I was considering going up to 20" wheels because of the cost. I would pay $800 for tires alone if I stuck with my 18" steel wheels.

A lot of guys don't appear to care for the 20" wheels for the Tundra, so I was a little concerned I would loose the current quality of my ride and gas millage. Also, people said the 20" is prone to tire and wheel damage if I hit a pot hole. I think I will add the sway bar and take the deal on the wheels and tires.

Any feedback, comments and/or suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

    Thanks again,

    Jimmy

My truck has the stock Dueller tires and I think they are great highway tires. Ive never driven a tundra without 20” tires but I wouldn’t say the truck is rough by any means. My last truck had the black shocks and they were smooth as well.

You will probably lose a little MPG on paper but I doubt it will be much at all. I say if you like the wheels run them and be happy! It’s still a tundra with 20’s. If you off-road much then it would be a lot more of an issue

Idk if you saw my newest post but I coated my wheels black this weekend. I’m very happy with the outcome. Should keep me content until I can budget in a new suspension, wheel, and tire setup!

i am certainly not an expert but logically the more rubber you have between the rim and the road will likely give you a “softer” ride however with 20’s there is plenty of sidewall to get a good ride but that also depends on the type of tires. I have 20” with Cooper Discoverer AT3 4S and they ride very smooth. The biggest issue you will have with damaging wheels is if you are off-roading and you definitely want more tire in that case but just hitting a pothole isn’t going to damage your wheel unless it’s a really bad one, and would probably damage more than just your wheel. For fuel economy, As long as they are good tires and you have them inflated correctly then that shouldn’t impact your mileage much but may actually improve it. I added the rear sway bar first to mine a few weeks ago and made a world of difference....upgraded the front as well and have eliminated most of the body roll, love the way it handles now. But again - I don’t off-road.
