Have we started talking about alcohol in this thread yet? That’s where this should be heading.

When this video came out, it was genius. I have always liked it and it's the first one that came to mind when I saw the new thread title.

I'm not a dance or techno music fan, but this song was all over all the airwaves.

Of course he has....that's why he said he's 'living the dream.' ;)

It's better than it used to be....and besides, I don't care HOW nice a place is to live. If one house payment is around the price of a lightly used *CAR* I'm not interested in living there. LOL

My parents were the same way. They were dumb lol maybe back in the day when everything was used up when it was used but that hasn't been true for at least 20 years. You have zero problem finding multiple used cars at 20 or 30k nowadays. I'm 37 and have purchased exactly 2 new vehicles in my lifetime, neither were worth it imo. 3 if you count my 2007 zx6r. I've easily owned 16 or more vehicles. Buy new if you want to because you like to be the only one who owns it or it makes you feel warm and fuzzy inside, but the "used vehicles are only problems" thing hasn't been true for some time. Just like anything else be selective and do your research. If you're buying some Craigslist clunker , likely to have issues. I bought my tundra use cpo 33k and it was only owned previously by Toyota motor company.

Edit: right now bc of covid and life being generally stupid, may not be the best example from a price standpoint , i.e. supply and demand but all the rest still stands

Oh I get it for sure just saying that him comparing Bakersfield home values to FLW is a leap by any measure!
And hopefully only another Show Me State resident would know too!

Yep LOL - yeah, one definitely shouldn't compare Bakersfield to FLW - I'm not sure you should even compare Bakersfield to Chesterfield.

A friend of mine moved from Webster Groves to Santa Monica and what a shock that was to his system.

That was my grandfather LOL. Bought a brand new cadillac in cash every 3 years in retirement. But he also lived in the same house for 40 years. Simple man though, ww2 vet career chemical plant worker, highest education 10th grade. Grandmother was a school teacher. They don't make them like that anymore. Man I miss them.

I'm not retired, but still save up to buy my vehicle in Cash (and many other things). Our Tundra was paid for in cash and it helped get us a $8K Toyota Incentive. Doesn't sound weird to me.

It's probably why we own our house, cars, trailer, toys and have cash in the bank at our disposal.

FYI, house was paid of in under 15y too.

Our house was paid off when we lived in texas and I just recently paid my tundra off in 2 years of ownership. Relocating to utah we have a house payment again, but it was worth moving for the career opportunities we didn't have in texas and since the house in texas was paid for, we're light years ahead on current house. Cash is king, but you can still be smart using payments.

Outside of house and cars we don't finance anything though.

I've never financed a vehicle and I paid off my house years ago when interest rates on savings tanked.
