I applied for a couple jobs in other industries but they ended up hiring internal people but I was able to land a job in another area of the industry that I'm more interested in long term.

Cost of living is a little high in CO. So making 40.00+ per hour sounds like a lot until you need housing.

Fair enough. 10 acres with a 3000 sq ft home out here is like 400k

What a screaming deal. I'm happy for you, sounds like you're living the dream. Me and the wife are giving strong considerations to leaving California, real estate costs being far down our list of concerns but it is there. Often times there isn't even enough property space to expand here because lots are so small. I bought at a good time and have a larger home and lot but some of these new homes, you can jump from rooftop to rooftop. No joke. I feel really bad for the next generation of Californians, I dont know how they'll afford to live

I know what you mean - in fact, a family moved in 2 houses over. I've not had the chance to personally talk to them, though we've waved/said hi a buncha times. They've got a sufficiently complex name (Polish in origin) that anytime I have to refer to them around my wife, I call them "The Californians."

But yeah, around here, the house they got is one of the moderately expensive ones (more than $150K! LOL), but compared to where they moved from, it's a freakin' steal.

Yeah, years ago as I was finishing my engineering degree I interviewed with Lockheed Martin in Denver. The interview went well and I drove around looking for houses that afternoon. I found one family moving out of their recently sold home and stopped to ask how much they got for it. This was a modest <2000 sq ft home in a not-so-new neighborhood. They said something like $400k - and they sold it in TWO DAYS!!! The offer I got from Lockheed was about the same as another offer I got in South Mississippi, where I paid $126k for a nice 2500 sq ft home with a 800 sq ft shop and 10 acres! I really feel for the folks who move out there thinking they're going making a lot of money without knowing the cost of living.

people moving out here by the herd, asian pot farmers buying up land at un heard of prices, and paying all cash have driven up prices to insanity levels.

    100 acres, now $1.1 million
    lots, $12k and up.
Housing was already high and going higher.

I know a guy who sold 5 acres and a run down house not fit to live in for $150,000 cash.

Another customer said they sold for all cash and the buyer said heres another $50k if you are out in one week.

    crazy stuff

My understanding is that OK also has some the most booming Pot Business in the country so I bet that will drive the housing market crazy!

    Pot and Used Cars?

    Who would have thought?
OK I might have thought this.

After the "medical use" law was voted in things exploded. Its nuts here.

On one hand its driving my sales like none other. On the other its nerve wrecking. The pot farms being built now re huge, acres and acres of privacy wood fencing going up everywhere surrounding the grow barns.

I was thinking our county government was pretty stupid not to allow growing marijuana as an approved use of agricultural land.
