Toyota removed all incentives for the tundra in april. Bow people like me who preordered their truck but couldnt aign the finance paperwork until the truck is in transit might have to walk away because the monthly is too high due to the high APR

Yep. I'm waiting to see if my truck is totaled and in the meantime, put my name in on a new incoming truck. Problem is it doesn't come until end of month, early May. Hopefully they have something by then.

I know of all used vehicles tundras are really good but growing up my parents had used vehicles and nothing but problems, and i told myself i would never buy used. I also don't believe in settling especially when it comes to something like this. Its a bummer for sure but i would rather walk away than get something isnt exactly what i want.

Yeah i think its just a really dick move. As it is inventory is scarce so its hard to find exactly what you want, then dealerships arent negotiating on price and ar marking up the vehicles and they add this on top of all that. Just sucks.

Similar situation here. My father is looking for a new mid size and on 4/1 the Tacoma incentives went away. Tacoma has now been removed from the list. Will look to Frontier or Ridgeline.

The incentives don't affect it that much. Every $1000 financed is about a $17.00 difference in monthly payment. The APR is based on credit ratings. The dealer also sets the interest rate, not the lender.

I think the dealer you dealt with are morons. I financed my truck before it ever left the port. As a matter of fact, the truck didn't arrive until 2 weeks later. It can be financed before delivery to the dealership because the dealer owns the truck before it ever arrives. The inventory manager has the VINs for incoming vehicles, that is how most are sold before they ever get to the lot.

The preorder should have locked in the incentive which is separate from the financing paperwork

I have only bought new one time and it was the worst of easily 50 vehicles that I have had by a log margin too.
I prefer to not pay depreciation by merely driving one off the lot for the first time and have only had a few that were really any trouble at all for over 40 years somehow, and again all but 1 of them pre-owned.

I talked to my friend yesterday who runs a Toyota store and they can not get the numbers of trucks that they need anyway so they hardly need to offer incentives right now to sell more.

I live close to a high volume Toyota dealer. The entire front row used to be Tundras and Tacoma's with dozens more in the overflow lots. There are now maybe 10 trucks that I could see anywhere on the lots.

Supply and demand, limited number of trucks, demand is going higher as rumors swirl around new models and shortages for suppliers.

Im in the same boat. I had to order one a while back and the rebate was 1k which went down from 2k the month before. Now 0 and the truck should be here this month. Im debating on passing for now and just waiting to see what the 22 is like since I waited this long. I think there should be some trucks left as we go through the year. Damnit, wish Toyota would have atleast left it at $1000. As Don3032 stated earlier, supply and demand in the works.

Have you tried calling Toyota corporate to see if they'll try to keep your business? I'm also curious what the APR is going to be. I ended up getting a Toyota mostly because their interest rates were so much more competitive than the American brands, though this was at the end of 2019. I got dealer cash instead of any APR discounts, but still ended up at half the APR of any domestics.

That being said, this sounds like the dealer screwed things up because shouldn't the financing agreement have been settled at the same time as the order being placed?

Lastly, I wouldn't say Toyota is a bunch of jerks for removing incentives on a vehicle that's suffering from low supply and incredibly high demand. Financing incentives are usually there to help a vehicle move off the lot. No sense in Toyota giving up cash when they're having 0 trouble selling Tundras.

If you put down a deposit I think you would get whatever incentive was offered when the order was placed. Maybe not. As others have said, it is not surprising to see incentives go away with the short supply. Dealers may be asking over MSRP if it keeps up... Supply and demand at work.

Another option is to go with non TFS financing. I went through my local credit union and the APR almost 1% lower than TFS. Shop around.

The deposit was placed before the vehicle was built so they cant do the finance paperwork as the vin number used is just a place holder. They can do the paperwork once the vehicle has been built and is in transit but unfortunately for me that was after the incentives were gone. I did talk to the dealer and they did try to give me the lowest they can but my monthly is still 900.

This isn’t a dick move by any means. Incentives exist to move products and boost sales. There’s no reason whatsoever for a manufacturer to offer a deal on something they can’t keep in stock. Not just vehicles, but any product. Why would any business cut prices or rates when demand far exceeds supply?

I sell products for a living, and we are having serious supply shortages right now. Stuff is sold almost as soon as it comes in, if not before. You think I’m discounting any of it?

Add that to the fact that everyone’s sales are already down because of it, and it’d be a terrible business decision to give any of that profit up. Last model year, almost nonexistent supply, guaranteed to sell 100% of inventory? I wouldn’t cut any deals either.

Finding a used one isn't that easy either, they are all super high priced, it's even harder to find exactly what you want, and interest rates are higher.

Check with your credit union/bank for auto loans it may not be a deal breaker like you think it is.

The nerve of them trying to make more money.

That is one f'd up business model. Shame on Toyota.

My $8k for cash incentive a couple years ago, is looking like a jackpot now ;)

Try any one of these lease swap sweb sites. With times being what they are you may find something that somebody is looking to get out of. I picked up my 2019 TRD Pro off a website called swap a lease. I got it in October 2019. Original leasee traded in another Tundra and put the $9000 down on this lease and then put another $3000 into the truck ( warranties and ARE bed cover). He made 3 payments and wanted out. $575 monthly. Its all legit. Went through TFS and in a few months i just started making the payments. (Original leasee also paid sales tax upfront so all i owed was difference between NY and NJ 2%)

They may have not done an actual preorder and were trying to find a truck to transfer. Probably weren't being entirely truthful with our friend here

Sorry to hear about this, it does indeed suck.

Its the main reason I traded in 02/19 for my current truck.

I was in a lease that only had a few months left,, my plan at first was to go ahead and buy the truck for the residual. At that time tundras had 0% for 72 on 2019 models. I had started looking around at rates and all were in the 4% range, not bad but not great either.

The sales manager at that time told me to just wait until the lease expired to purchase the truck, I replied can you assure me that you will still be offering 0% for 72 on new trucks if I decide to go that route? He replied no I cannot promise anything, I said well I am trading today either here or elsewhere, I purchased a new 2019 for 0% for 72 that day. In one more year, the 3 year mark I will owe $6,000 less on the 2019 than the residual was on the buy out of the 2016 I had.

Sometimes you gotta strike while the irons hot.

    Good luck to you.

Sounds like a dealer issue and not Toyota. Check credit unions and your bank. Probably will beat Toyota's offer.

There maybe incentives coming in a couple months as parts supplier's catch up with demand. 21' sales may slow down just prior to the release date of the 22's. 22' most likely will have decent incentives when they hopefully come out in six months.

That makes sense. They were trying to find a truck that they didn't own yet.
