I've had a rumble in the front end of my sequoia for a while and finally tracked it down to a bad CV Axle. It's the driver's sides and so I'm thinking of replacing the needle bearing with the ECGS bushing while I'm at it. Two questions, the rumble is the same in 2wd and 4wd so I thought that meant my needle bearing was fine. Would you recommend I replace it anyway?

Second question, ECGS sells a tool to install the bushing in https://eastcoastgearsupply.com/i-23994071-t7-5-t7-5-clamshell-bushing-installer-tool.html

I've seen lots of videos where they use other things to punch it in. Is the tool worth it? (I could always add it to the loaner set @FrenchToasty offers when I'm done)

Craig no longer speaks to me after I intervened in one of his schemes.

Legally, I can't discuss it further.

So I have both the removal and insertion(proper?) tool/s for the bearing itself and the new seal.
Yes the noise is supposed to go away in 4wd because it’s putting a load on the bearing and not letting it flop around.
I replaced mine and it was probably fine, but it’s not that difficult of a job if your already in there. Oem seals and oem half shafts are your friend!

@Darkness those remflex gaskets are no fucking joke!!!! I got chub looking at the chub! Easily two quarters stacked; thick.
image.jpg Well two pennies at least!
easily 3-4 times thicker than OEM.
Got lots of good torque runs from inside out, left the motor mount so I didn’t mess with alignment of the straight pipes.
Started up and purred like a minx!!! Took it for a test run..........I had to have been loosing a crap ton of back pressure from my leaks, the front end lifts up so much more aggressively(#noswaybars)

I was screwing around with a ice machine in between prepping the heads and waiting for the brown van to show up, 3 hours total, not bad!!
I’m pumped to get some tick free miles out of the truck!!!

Remflex makes fantastic gaskets! I have them for every connection exhaust side of my truck possible. Even the header gasket where it mounts to the cylinder head.

Did a quick wash and wax after work today. I'm glad she still shines up!
It's been 2 months since I had the camper shell painted so I figured it's time for me to put some wax on. This desert sun is no joke. I see vehicles less than 3 years old with peeling and oxidized clear coats.

The night before I installed my headers I ran into a random thread “don’t use oem gaskets with aftermarket headers” I was like yeah this is the first time reading this.....
the remflex 1 3/4 gaskets fit perfect on the “1 5/8” JBA tube, I think their raised port widens the flange surface to 1 3/4 so it a great mate!

Thats awesome @FrenchToasty but hopefully you don't have to swap the driver side gasket for a while. At least if you do its an upgrade.

I looked at my truck a bit more and the loop on the suicide door has. Shiny spot on top. Now I'm starting to wonder if the latch just needs adjustment after all.

Never heard of this Remflex (looks beefy). I thought everyone around here was chubbing out on the Percy Gaskets?

Now you know you want to tear back into that drivers side again and redo it.

    Stoked on this feedback.

Good on ya for having that Denso Filter in there. Makes a big difference. I bought an STP (suppose to be quality) last time a few years ago before getting into the truck really good. The weight and feel of Denso is far superior.

So Percy doesn’t make one for the vvti, they do for your motor.

i will do the driver side one day, just not soon, maybe find something else to do in there while I’m doing the driver side. I think a lot of it was the flange modifications made. Even a guy at work just now was like dude it sounds totally different now, in a good way.

Is this a New Line of Projectors coming from Southpaw? These are the best pics I’ve seen of his Projectors (assuming low beam in your one shot).

Which harness did you use and how much was your total setup?

My hands will be fully healed in a week or so.......
Worst one I did, was a piece of hot slag dropped down between my fingers as I was doing a two finger yoga pose; it burnt both fingers perfectly where it landed.
I’m really glad I did the fancy Vband clamps for ease of removal of everything.
