3 year old niece and I switched out consoles. Took all of 8 minutes.

Now I know keep the battery unplugged when changing bulbs.

I'll keep the other console for when I'm ready to get back to LEDs I'll do it off line first.

One other thing - this gave me the opportunity to look for the rear view camera cable - I didn't see it in the headliner, but it is on the bottom passenger side. (Didn't I say no mods)

Thanks, considering a set of spacers myself but don't want the tires stuck way out as I drive a lot of gravel roads.

Well got a little done while off. Installed new leds under headlights. Got my DSP'S bullet lined, and re-installed them the correct way. looks better anyway. I changed from the basic red gauge cluster to a Sequoia Limited Optitron cluster. Downside is now the green LEDs for the A/C, Recirculate, etc. no longer dim when the headlamps are turned on. I can't figure out why, I just think that I'm going to have to live with it.

Easier than a starter/alternator? There are a few threads that imply they're a PITA.

Honestly. Not that bad. My knees hurt a bit but if you can do a starter/alternator, you'd be able to do an AC with a little more work. Is it easy, No. I'd put it in the Water pump classification.

    • Starter/Alternator/Rotor Brakes/Intake - Easy Work, Not a Mechanic
    • Water Pump/AC Compressor/Drum Brakes/Exhaust - Med Work, Driveway Mechanic
    • Head Gasket/New Heads/Transfer Case work - Hard Work, Driveway Mechanic since his first Wrench at age 5, Shop Mechanic
    • Motor Rebuild/Trans Rebuild/Swapping gears in Differential - Harder Work, Driveway Mechanic since his first Wrench at age 3, Pro Shop Mechanic

I'd say I'm in the "Driveway Mechanic since his first Wrench at age 5" class.
Working on the Install Write Up now. https://www.tundras.com/threads/2nd-gen-ac-compressor-install.12349/
