I’m new to the Tundra world. I have a 2012, 5.7. Truck runs amazing, but I have noticed the air injection makes a noise when I shutdown. It almost sounds like a turbo on a diesel when it shuts down. Just not as loud. Is this normal?
    Thanks!

Hopefully this is good enough. I can take one from the engine compartment if that will help. Thank again...

Uh, I think you have a dyson vacuum under the hood :D.

I don’t think that is normal. I’m not sure what is causing the pumps to activate. I would suspect a wiring or relay issue which is activating them at the incorrect time. Perhaps an incorrectly installed air pump bypass kit.

They are supposed to activate on startup for some number of seconds ABOVE ambient temperature ~37-43 degrees depending on year.

My Tundra and my 2015 4Humper both do that at every shutdown.

Cool beans. My 07 didn’t prior to me making it not work at all. I wonder why the difference or reason for it.
    Maybe it’s a mating call.

New Toyotas run the AIPs briefly on shut-down to dry the air injection valves of any condensation. I requested that the dealer update my software, and paid them to do so, but my ‘08 still doesn’t run the AIPs on shutdown. I still wonder if they actually did the update, or if that feature isn’t a thing for ‘08s at all.
