    $500 Highly available option

    Get one of these...

    https://www.cdw.com/product/Synology-Disk-Station-DS220j-NAS-server-0-GB/5981717

and two of these if you think you will never need more than 1TB

    https://www.cdw.com/product/wd-red-...rx-hard-drive-1-tb-sata-6gb-s/2764466?pfm=srh

But I would get at least 2TB drives...like these...

    https://www.cdw.com/product/wd-red-...sx-hard-drive-2-tb-sata-6gb-s/4229730?pfm=srh

You can keep going up in TB...personally, I'd by double the size what I thought I'd ever need. HD is pretty cheap these days.

Then Run a Raid 1 (Disk Mirroring) setup on the Synology.

    https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Standard_RAID_levels#RAID_1

If you want to get really safe in terms of not losing data, buy an external hard drive the same size as the other two and backup the data weekly.

Cheaper not quite as "safe" option, $170:

Just by two external hard drives of the same size, use one as your daily user and use the other one as your weekly backup....

Yeah, I'd be tempted if was an Xtra cab. The thought of paying insurance and reg on another vehicle always stops me from seriously looking at these.

Another off topic question. Has anyone on here actually bent their spindle? Looking at the $40 Total Chaos spindle gusset. Is it worth it? @Darkness @FirstGenVol

For footwell it's 37 incandescent or type 74 mini-wedge LED. Can't swear to mirror bulb, it's been couple years but the best I remember it's also 37 incandescent or type 74 mini-wedge LED. Be cautious with footwell, it is tight quarters and a metal shield is close by that can cause ark, zzzzzt !

I have been running a NAS device for about 5 years and my only regret is that I did not do it sooner. Staying off the big tech cloud solutions is a good thing.

I don't have any experience with those but for the price it might be a good idea. I've seen Youtube videos of people bending theirs but never seen anyone here report it. I think @Casper421 is running those on his truck.

Some guys have bent and even cracked a spindle. Considering how thick the spindle is, then looking at how thin the gusset is makes me wonder how much it will help. The only real "weak" point in the spindle is where the ring meets the spindle. The gusset helps to support that ring to reduce fatigue.

I have those gussets and while they add support, I don't think that they add enough strength to prevent a bend or break if you take hard enough hits.

There are some interesting discussions in the 2nd/3rd gen land about gussets. Some gussets actually lead to damaged spindles. I haven't heard of that on first gen, but its a similar concept so its possible. Worth noting that if your welder isn't patient the install can damage your hub and bearings.

Just an FYI products like these are always cheaper (everyday price) at Walmart/Target if you have one near you. Seafoam's regular price at Walmart and Target is around $7. I usually buy mine at a Target near my work.

Now that you mention it, you're right. For some reason I was thinking it was Wal-Mart that's always $9.99 but I now realize it's normally the price in the link.

so has anybody seen how much 1st generation tundras are fetching for now????!! The trend appears to be if you have lets say a 2001 tundra 4x4 with less than 200k. That truck will cost you at least 9,000 dollars in my area. And thats just for a 2001 access cab 4x4!!

Yesterday I saw a guy on FB selling a stock 2006 DC same color as mine 4x4 with 140k miles and recent timing belt for $13.5K....that seemed like a smokin' deal compared to others I've seen lately....

Looks like he grinded some material off of portions on the inlets pipes (see shiny). I’ve learned to understand Plumbing Secret Code over the years so this is my best guess.

From day one, I sorta had a feeling something was off, specifically with the passenger side, but denial can obscure the truth and how you perceive it!
The ass kicking happened during full exhaust removal, that was probably the worse, and I didn’t do any stretching beforehand, that’s what killed me!!
all this “little” stuff is the downhill smooth sailing part of it!

the wife’s sequoia needin some attention. Noticed a puddle of oil under the truck after driving it the other morning. Drop the skid plate found a lot of oil.

checked the previous work done on valve covers and peeped the cam shaft seal (best I could) top end look dry. No worries there

Found a pretty good leak coming from the oil filter adapter bracket. And it looks like a pain to get too. Having a new radiator put in while im at it. Old girl is due one and was weeping around the cap.

HPS silicone top and bottom radiator hose kit. Cause why not :spending:.
