Dasaita Android Head Unit

That's good advice as my son's iphone takes over my HU if it connects before I plug in for AA. For clarification, Zlink is used for both AA and CP.

 

Maybe the setting says Zlink and then you set it to AA or Apple. I don't recall the exact wording it used in the settings. If you actually use it, I don't believe changing the setting will prevent your son's phone from taking over.

 

I just installed installed the Dasaita 10.2 px6 in my 08 Tundra to replace my Kenwood that just crapped out on me, I updated to the Agama launcher. One question I have is Id like to play music off of a thumb drive I have plugged into one of the usb inputs, is there an app or something I can download that would be more helpful to sort out, search for and play the music files? Im using the "music" app that was pre-installed on the unit and needless to say it doesnt work the greatest. Id like something that doesnt require a hotspot as I dont have unlimited data on my plan, and would like it to work with the Agama launcher if possible.
Also has anyone been able to run Amazon Music threw the Agama launcher screen? Im assuming I have to download the Amazon Music app on the HU to make that work?

On apple CarPlay is your iPhone wifi and Bluetooth on?leave them on.iPhone settings did you click CarPlay?

 

@donellyd sorry about the audio aux.I double checked my harness and there’s 2 aux LR. i cancelled my order on the ebay.

 

So guys, here is the progress so far, I got the unit installed and working I will be sharing the pictures soon since there are still a couple of things left to do, there is enough covered in the past few pages so I will just go over my lessons learned.

Lessons learned and tips:

1. I bought a universal Dasaita from Amazon, sent the order number to the Dasaita Amazon Store with the order number for 2019 Tundra Ltd no JBL, got message that they don't have the time to include the harness in the box due to Prime. No problem, CB004 to the rescue.
2. The best fit for dash mount kit is the Scosche TA2116B, fits like a glove, I used the 8mm bolts from the older stock unit to secure it to the 2 din Dasaita, the color match of the dash mount kit and fit and finish is priceless.
3. Maestro Acc-GPS adapter used for factory GPS sensor using DGZZI coax adapter.
4. $15 PAC USB-TY1 Toyota/Lexus OEM USB Port Retention Cable
   PAC USB-TY1 USB port cable worked like a champ, I could read all the music from my usb thumb drive.
5. Fingerlakes microphone worked well too, not using the packaged Dasaita microphone.
6. Backup camera works, even though a bit low res, anyone know how to upgrade this?
7. Got Agama installed, setup a Bixby task for auto 5g hotspot from the phone when connected to CAR-KIT and life is good with Waze and Spotify.
8. Built in GPS app works well, you do have to go in and change settings for speed limit warnings.

I still have these pending issues:


1. Cable from CB004 unused, my best guess is it is for the JBL amp.
2. Cable from the Tundra wiring harness unused, my best guess is it is for Sat Radio, I don't need or will be using it.
3. Could not find where to install the power for Natika front cam, got the RCA plug installed with the yellow male from CB004 just hanging, I could not find where to plug in the red from the cam to yellow as posted on forum post #246.
4. The cable with two USB female plugs which is intended to go in the glove box did not work, nothing happens when anything is plugged into it.
5. I tried my wife's iPhone to test airplay, it recognizes it but does not show screen, I'm guessing there is a firmware update.
6. Built in music app sucks, I will be planning to upgrade that and am open for suggestions.
7. Canbus 42 setting allows me to use steering music skip, volume and mute, however does not show TPMS or Vehicle fuel consumption etc
8. My center digital speedometer on dashboard displays in KM and not miles, the analog is fine, I still haven't figured out how to change the units to display miles.

I've used it for a day now, loving it, once I get the Blackvue 4k dash cam installed and wires cleaned up, I will post some pictures.

Download Music Folder Player app from the Google Play, it will keep your folders the way you have them organized and play the music by folders using a long press on the folder name.

 

Figured out two issues:

1. Got the front camera working, tapped into the red cable on the main canbus harness and plugged in A/V RCA, the mistake I was making was checking to see if showed up with the reverse camera feature where you clicked on the forward camera icon, it doesn't show there but in AV app.
2. Got the two USB in the glove box working, they were plugged into the wrong port in the back of the Dasaita unit, tested Android Auto, works like a charm on all USB ports.

I went ahead with the 3 year extended Amazon warranty too, you never know when you will need it, thanks for the tip @donellyd

Dasaita Android Head Unit

When you installed the flush mount instead of floating HU did you need any additional install parts to mount in dash?

 

no additional parts needed for mounting that unit. It has plastic studs that push right into existing mount points on the dash and fill the entire space of your past unit. The only thing you want to do is take the small yellow clips off the back mounting studs of your stock unit and transfer them onto the studs of the dasaita. I should be pulling mine out today to add another adapter and can take a picture if you’d like.

 

@netshark did you end up doing an anti glare cover on the screen? I have the same issue and have been researching. I just ordered a DayVue film from NuShuield to try that out.

My Dasaita Spaghetti!

The original canbus harness that came with my kit was for a non-jbl, but with the JBL canbus. They sent me a patch harness to make my rear speaker work. I purchased the 6v camera trigger to retain my rear camera. Then, they sent me the correct harness to to trigger the rear camera but the connector did not fit, so I had to use a jumper wire and splice it into the green wire on the gray 4 pin connector.

 

THANKS IAN FOR ALL THE HELP!!!!!!!!! (still nothing) I already had the orange trigger wire connected since they installed a connector for my new harness (Pic 1) and that didn't work. Also spliced in the aftermarket trigger wire and to no avail (2nd pic). Per the request of Dasaita I checked Pin #2 on the black connector that goes into the HU when the vehicle was in reverse and I am measuring current (Pic 3). I'm ready to thru myself out a window. I really want this to work! I just wrote back to Iris so I guess I'll wait until tomorrow or Sunday for a response. I can't help but think there must be a setting somewhere for my truck. These set ups are so different from year to year between the Sequoias and Tundras. I think everybody on this thread got the reverse trigger to work except for me! Urg!

 

Do you mind if I pm you with a few questions? I can't get the backup cam, such, or gps connected.

 

I will pull out my radio and take a photos of the harness individually to ensure that we have the same setup.

 

I can 'try' to help, but I know that the 2007-2013 is a little different. I have a 2017, so the 2014-2020 isn't exactly the same in terms of what goes where and whatnot (camera, especially). There are people in this thread that have done your year(s) that can probably help you better than I can.

 

GPS should be straightforward, if you have the adapter OP mentioned on the first post, your factory GPS receiver should be able to connect to it, go to the built in Nav app in the Dasaita to see if it sees satellites when out in the open, if not, use the provided GPS antenna by Dasaita and try with that.

Rear camera took some fiddling, there are 3 video inputs - rear, front and Aux, make sure to use the correct trigger wire and change the screen to test each one of rca connections one by one.

Since putting in this unit my radio reception has been far worse than before. Has anyone else had this issue? The only cause I can think of is that the radio antenna connection from the truck is a smaller connector than the one from the harness. I couldn’t use the harness for that connection but the factory connection is same style plug, yet smaller, and does connect. Any ideas on an adapter or anything else to consider as the issue?

 

Thanks for sharing all the pics, Ian. I just got a new mother board sent to me as they think that could be the problem. I'll double check the pics vs. mine when I begin surgery. Perhaps this w/e.

 

This post has been priceless for all the information on deciding to purchase and then install the Dasaita head unit. I tied it together with a system from James Taylor, new speakers, amp and sub. Sound is amazing and I love that I can watch live baseball through the MLB app!

I have the Dasaita 10.2 android 10 and just installed a jl audio speakers and arc amp from tech12 and James. Also did the 2 10” subs. Issue I am having is the subs do not work. Did battery test at harness under seat and subs move. Is there a factory setting in the headunit that I need to switch to as I plugged rcas into the sub 1 and sub 2 outputs on the headunit. is there a setting in the canbus that has to change? Here is what canbus is set too

any help would be appreciated. Bugged James to death over the weekend but seems like everything is hooked up. Just something at head unit. (All other speakers sound great)

 

I have the same system from James it sounds like- how did you connect the rca to head unit in back? I am stumped on why my subs don’t work.

 

I had a non JBL system with no amp or sub. Didn't need the canbuss, just the harness supplied by James. Hence no RCA's for sub.

 

Recently ordered and installed my Dasaita 10.2 Android 10 HU after reading through all 53 pages of this thread multiple times. I am still having trouble with a few things. I have a 2020 SR5 non-JBL. I was sent the CANBUS from Iris after sending pictures with my order.

1. Sound comes loud (But crappy) from center dash speakers, everything else is super low. I figured that out from messing with the Fade on the Dasaita.
2. Back-up cam does not come on with reverse. It looks like the orange trigger wire from the CANBUS harness is just capped, with no adapter to plug in. (Hopefully Iris sends me a new harness/plug)
3. My Tundra did not come with NAV, but I have 2 extra antenna looking hookups, assuming one is XM, other is GPS. I am ordering the adapter from page 1 for the GPS antenna, but unsure which color plug is for the GPS.
4. Extra plug tucked up that was unused, haven't seen this one on any of the posts hanging around. Any idea what it is for?

I found someone had the same sound problems around page 42/43, but no follow up of if/how it was fixed.

 

I am guessing 2020's aren't supported yet due to the new connections?

 

Did you buy the Axxess AX-TOYCAM2-6V Toyota Back-Up Camera Retain/Add-On with 6 Volt Turn on Harness?

Coming out of lurking mode to run through the products I used to set up a

Dasaita 10" Large Screen Single Din Android 10.0 Car Stereo for Toyota Tundra 2007 to 2013 and Sequoia 2008 to 2018. Radio with GPS Navigation 4G Ram 65G ROM Built in DSP Dash Kit GPS Memory Card…

Dasaita 10.0 in my 2012 SR5 with a front bench seat and base sound system. See the attached picture of the back of the head unit. It appears my set-up was different than others here as well as my approach, so I'm posting an overview to help any folks out that want to take a stab at this and avoid weeks of annoyances. There are videos out there of replacing the head unit itself, so I'll skip that part. Note that there are four screws holding the frame of the drink holder in place. The remainder of this focuses on connecting this all together.

Wanting to avoid snaking wire up to the cab, I opted to go with an aftermarket camera that utilizes the existing factory wiring. Installation is a breeze. The connector for the camera sits just forward of the rear bumper on the passenger side. There's a dummy plug you'll need to remove. Remove the access panel from the back of the tailgate. If you don't have the correct size torx bit, a flat blade screwdriver will work. There are videos for replacing the tailgate handle if you can't figure it out. there's cutouts in the tailgate and rear of the truck to run the cable from the camera. I recommend using the opportunity to clean/lubricate the linkage in the tailgate, it's a nice improvement.

After some fruitless back and forth with Iris, and an incorrect harness, I went back to the camera vendor for an adapter to connect the factory wiring in the cab to the head unit. Ignore the photo on the web page, it doesn't look exactly like that. I'll note that there is an option on the backup camera to snip the green wire to opt out of the backup reference lines, which I chose to do as the option #2 reference lines on the head unit are spot on and far better resolution. You'll find this under Settings->Car->Extra Settings->Rear View Ruler. You'll utilize the main harness supplied by Dasaita as well as separate video harness that also comes in the package. The adapter harness from tailgatecamera.com connects to factory wiring under the overhead lights/sunglass/credit card module in the headliner. There are 4x t25 torx screws holding it up. They are not captive screws so be prepared for them to fall or use a magnetic bit. In the forward section of the cutout, you'll see the plug.

When it comes time to reinstall the plastic insert in the headliner, use a bit extension with a freewheeling sleeve. Extend the sleeve to capture the head of the screws so you aren't cursing the gods when you drop a screw between the seats because you tried to insert the screw with your fingers.

Hopefully you are using flexible plastic tools to manipulate the dash fascia to remove the old head unit. Use these same tools to work the RCA cable from the adapter down under the headliner and behind the A pillar to the head unit. Remove the left A pillar using a 10mm socket. You'll run the cable through the A pillar being careful to ensure that it is fastened behind the air bag curtain. Run a straightened coat hanger with the end twisted into a 1/2" "U" (or fish tape) behind the dash display, to the A pillar area. Be patient. This method requires no manipulation of dash plastic outside of the A pillar (easy) and the head unit area. Hook the RCA plug on the cable into the "U" on the coat hanger, and tape it to secure it. CAREFULLY pull the cable across the open area behind the dashboard to the head unit. Pull up the slack and do some hygiene to neaten the excess cable. There is a red wire with a butt connector pre-attached to the RCA adapter cable you just pulled. Find the orange wire with the insulator plug on it from the main Dasaita wire harness. Strip 3/16" from the orange wire, connect to the butt connector and crimp it. Give it an easy pull to make sure you did this right or you may hate yourself later.

Make sure you have the RCA from the wiring adapter plugged into the correct RCA jack from the Dasaita aux wiring harness by turning the ignition key to 'on' (no need to start the truck) and putting the truck in reverse. I suggested making sure you have this all correct before putting the finishing touches on running the wire behind the headliner, etc.

Well, there you have it. Total cost was about $700, and worth every dime. I'm guessing total actual effort was <3hrs.
