Disabling Miscellaneous Safety 'Nannies'

So there are several safety nannies that drive me "up the wall". The Safety Belt alarm and the "doors not opening while moving". I am hoping that someone can offer some solutions to these problems (Yes, I consider them to be problems).

I have looked into the safety belt alarm and how to disable it, it seems that you cannot "officially" disable it. However from what I have found the best method for this is just to track down the speaker and cut the wires to it. Does anyone have a simpler solution, which includes the following capabilities:
Ability to "buckle up" without any additional hassle
No warning Chime
Does not disable any additional features (lights, stereo speakers, seats, etc)

As to the "door not opening while moving" issue, I feel as though this is a Safety issue and not a safety feature. I would like to have the capability to abandon ship for safety reasons. I am hoping that this is just a child lock protection nanny that can be disabled, if it is not, perhaps someone has some insight as to how it can be disabled.

Any help is appreciated, as these issues are becoming bothersome.

 

i asked the dealer to get rid of the obnoxious seat belt reminder when i was there last week.

I was told "we aren't allowed to.....but i'll do it anyway." Now i don't have to listen to it anymore, and that includes passenger seat too. That's the one that REALLY annoys me. I hate to tell people to buckle up if they don't want to!

 

Ask your dealer like Almaboy. Usually telling them something like you work on a ranch works pretty well. If they don't do it for you, get techstream and do it yourself.

 

yeah, i had to wear my suspenders and roll around in cow patties before i went in. Without these additions to my wardrobe i might not have played the ranch hand very well and been turned down.

Really though, all i had to do was ask when i was in for my 5000 service

 

When I bought my 2010, I made a "Customized Feature List" for the dealer. Found out while reading through the Owner's Manual about all the changes that can be made. Seatbelt chimes were first to go. A couple other things I had 'em do to interior lights, dash light intensity-timing and such. Doors lock/unlock with one push on the remote. I unhooked the White connector under the steering wheel surround/cover so the "key in switch" nanny is gone. Truck came through with just a 'chime' when locking-unlocking. If it blasted the horn like many do, that would've went too!

 

I keep a pair of these in the center console for when I wheel. Cheap and easy solution. I also have the BD tuner which allows you to turn off all that crap

I used my autel maxisys scanner to turn off my seat belt reminder, also adjusted some other settings. I think you can use techstream to do this also

 

On the second gen
- remove spring

On the third gen tundra

- remove attachment bolt

- split case

- remove the small spring in the white guide

- secure the white plastic guide down/away from the buckle insertion. (Foam shooting plugs work nicely)

- cut as much of the white plastic flat nipple as you can with dikes (in can get in the way)

- I added small pieces of Gorilla tape to ensure white plastic spring carrier remained in the down position.

 

Now how can I silence the beep when I use remote to lock/unlock doors?

 

Yep, Techstream is what the Dealer used on mine. I included everything I needed done for the initial free first time "Feature Customization".

 

Can't answer your question but count your blessings. You could be asking about the obnoxious horn blasts the "big 3" use. As for me, I'm fine with the lock/unlock beep my 2010 has. Did Toyota change this in the newer ones?

 

I just ordered a pair of these , nice addition at a minimal cost , if only everything could be so inexpensive lol.

 

My 2014 DC just makes a clicking noise , very minimal , sometimes I don't even hear it. I guess it could be disabled from previous owner , I bought with just a few thousand miles on her.

 

In my 2008 Tacoma there was a sequence to disable the seatbelt chime by plugging/unplugging belt, key in ACC, etc. Nothing like that on the Tundras??

 

Go to your dealer, Techstream can do that, and I can't see any reason the dealer would tell you that they can't do it.(no safety reason, etc.)

 

As far as the door not opening while moving, mine locks the doors when I shift out of park because I set it to, I've never even tried opening after that so I didn't know it wouldn't let you.

Is there a way to disable that long beep when you try and lock the truck with your remote while one of the doors is open? When I drove my 2002 Tacoma I got used to hitting the lock button as soon as I opened my door or as soon as everyone had there door open so I don't have to worry about doing it with my clicker. Any thoughts?

 

My dealer turned my seat belt alarm off without any problems, all I had to do was ask. I've heard of dealers in urban areas being less willing to do it, but it's worth a shot.

 

My dealer disabled the seatbelt chime. It can be done in the software

So how does one get into toyotas software to change that stuff

 

It's Toyota's proprietary software that's used to change some of the settings in various ECUs in their vehicles. There are pirated copies around, it requires a special cable that most get via a slow boat from China. Then it usually necessitates some laptop shenanigans to get running.

 

I'm sure, my brother had a Poniac G5 and I'm not sure what he did but he bought something that was like $15 that plugged into his car and sent the cars information to a tablet her kept in the car. From there I showed all the gages and he could rest maintanence lights when they were tripped and would turn off even when there was nothing wrong with the car. I'd imagine there's something like that out there for Toyota.
