RRW Rock Sliders

@Hoologan Thanks for sharing the photos. That tab was recently added for those who wished to drill out in that location for one added mounting point, although its not required. However we typically test the design after each iteration and didn't have obstruction issues with that lower body rivet. That possibly could've been something we have missed and that is our fault. For those of you that have notched the tab about 1/2" to clear that body rivet, thanks for working with us here. We truly apologize for the inconvenience. We have immediately revised the CAD drawing to not interfere with the frame's body rivet. To anyone else who is experiencing this issue, please email us, we would issue you a full refund if you wish to return your order. We'd like to make this right.

As for our lack of response via email. I am sorry if you didn't receive a prompt response at the time. At that time, Michael was the only one running our customer service emails but now we have an extra hand replying to DM's Instagram as well. So we hope that would help as well. Response times are and order fulfillment is definitely getting back on track.

We do apologize for the lack of response during January/February. We were very backed up from producing orders dated from our Black Friday sale that was honestly much more than our normal volume. As of now, majority of orders from that period have been caught up on and we are resuming back to normality. This was a lesson for our team and improvements have been implemented on our end to further improve our product and service. We hope this post can clear some air and allow us to respond to your concerns.

My favorite new chapter to this saga of being able to get them installed right is getting sent new hardware (Thank you Michael for sending it out!) that is totally different that the original set I got

curious to see what everyone's hardware packages look like... here's my replacement set that looks totally different than the originals

 

Yeah, my bolts were throated not tap bolts

 

1 Month later and they are starting to rust... ugh

 

Are you in an area prone to rust?

 

Yea, That's why I paid them to powder coat them.

 

I was initially attracted to the RRW Sliders. Received these Victory 4x4 Sliders instead. The four bolt ons per side was simple. The three drill and bolt ons per side was a challenge. You better have some really sharp step bits/drill bits for those. The truck wasn’t elevated so in order to get enough pressure on that drill I had to use a floor jack to apply pressure to the back of the drill. Whew!!!!
I was glad it was finally complete. That night I had to nurse my body aches with some Jameson Black Barrel Irish Whiskey. Definitely smoother than the install.
I’m sorry to hear about the powder coat. I’ll be watching mine too.

 

I have a Victory 4x4 bed rack, been on for 2 years no rust what so ever.
These RRW sliders have been on for a month and they are rusting on the weld and where the top plate meets. They did a bad powder coat so now I have to sand them down and paint them

 

I know how you must feel. Are you going to remove them to refurbish the entire slider or just those spots?
Man, just thinking about my install, I would hate to remove them again.
Probably best though to hit them one time good the way they should have been done from the start.

 

I think they look good, and why would you want it removable. Comments like this are the epitome of overkill.

 

Dood that’s what spray paint is for. You should try and scratch them yourself

Still need to add front and rear legs and gussets. Man these things are long!

These are custom sliders, built by me, measured up on my double cab....they are definitely meant for a double cab.

 

Well, you did post your pic in the RRW thread so I guess it could be an honest mistake thinking these weren’t custom sliders... RRW has theirs listed as CrewMax only now. The wheel base on both models is the same, though, so I don’t really know why there would be a difference between CM/DC sliders.

Yours are looking great, though, btw.

 

I posted them because of the prior conversation about mounting and how I mount mine.

Thanks though, they are coming together. I definitely think weld on would be the way to go for this particular frame if I ever did another set for someone.

 

Did you leave no gap between the front fender & rail? Might just be the angle of the pic. I like about a fingers thickness, or a tad more, for inevitable movement.

 

There is about a finger width gap. There should be almost no flex though once I put the front support to the body mount wing.

 

Yup, honest mistake bud. I just saw that it was in the RRW thread and didn’t realize you fabricated them yourself. Didn’t mean to disrespect ya bud. What made you decide to go so long though?

 

It happens. Went full length to get full length protection. A little more work to mount but worth it to go from wheel to wheel. Also places the kickout in a better location for bedside protection.

I have a rock crawler for hardcore wheeling so in all reality these are just to protect from high centering when going over steep hill crests when I go camping.

 

So I have a double cab as well and most companies (except for RCI, I believe) is the only one that sells it in double cab. Would you recommend going further and getting a crewmax rock slider for more protection? I don’t do crazy heavy rock crawling (for now) but wouldn’t mind entertaining the idea in the future.

 

I also mistakenly replied to this thread as mine are BashFab. Though the top plates aren’t removable, there is a logo on them, and they are welded to the frame. Cheers. No harm meant!

 

No worries man, the more people show their different rock sliders brands the more options that people are aware of!

 

I think they are probably similar in length. I honestly don’t know for sure though. I don’t love the look but the functionality of the White Knuckle Off Road sliders are the best I have seen so far. The chamfered ends let you get them closer to the rocker panel but still with sufficient gap.

 

Likely for cleaning mud out from underneath. But I was just noting the difference between the two.

Having sliders powder coated is kind of silly. They are going to get dinged and scratched. That is kind of the point.

So save some money and just use Steel It on them. Since you are going to be touching them up on a fairly regular basis.

 

Finally got my Rock Sliders on. I put this 9ff for too long but now I'm kind of glad it's on now lol now to patiently wait for the C4 Hybrid Front Bumper!

 

Looks good are these the RRW?

 

It isn't. It's the Apex Rock Sliders but I would wish that I did get some sort of plating on top for the sliders to use more like a step.
