To all the ones that have been lucky and have not had rodent problems, or, maybe you have and are just lucky that they have yet to return. I highly suggest the metal screen over your fresh air vent. The little SOB went in and sat on top of the cabin filter, chewed this hole in the blower motor assembly, went under my back seat and chewed all my wires up to both of my amps, then went for a stroll in the port of my ported sub box and feasted on the wires back there. Not to mention, shit all over the place. As for further prevention, I put the metal screen blocking the fresh air vent, will also try this spray, and even ordered a couple of the 12 volt under hood deterrents. Only took the little SOB about 4 hours to do all this damage. This happened back in 2016, done the repairs myself and use the rat spray, have had no more issues, thought I would share to give some ideas to help prevent it from happening to you.

When I oil spray my cars and trucks to fend off the salt demons, it keeps the mice away. Mice don’t seem to like OilGard.

I will certainly be adding the screen to the fresh air vent - thanks for that idea! No wires chewed but last September during a 3-day camping trip in the Adirondacks the inside of my truck was dirtied up by some rodents. Not fun driving 3+ hours home looking at rodent p#ss and s#$t all over my dash, etc. OCD kicked in real fast!

I live in rural and I catch mouse all the time in my garage but nothing on 4 of our cars. All of our car gets oil spray and I really think oil keeps little creatures away. We have tons of chipmunks and squirrels too but none of them wants to get their feet wet in oil.

I use Tom Cat rodent spray, On line Lowes, Homy Depot carried in garden/insecticide area. No smell, etc. , also spray Boe Shield t-9 on all wires connectors in front fenders for moisture ,rust proofing. Have used for yrs. on my boat wiring, connections. Here in Fl. high humidity corrodes everything and w/ salt water even worse. Never a problem using and NO PEST!!!!!!!!!!

A word of caution regarding rodent control. We’ve experienced severe and costly damage through the years. Wiring harness repairs can empty the wallet.
Anyhow, I recommend you stay clear of poison. You cannot control where the little prick will die and you may end up with a stinking rotting carcass in a spot very difficult to access. This stench can take a long time to eradicate

Please don't use poison, use a mechanical trap. Many birds eat mice that have been poisoned and it can kill birds like Owls and Eagles.

I find these bars work fantastic. I break them up and spread them around the garage and a few along the siding. upload_2021-3-25_4-27-38.jpg

So i went to check my '21 CM to do this mod, and i noticed there is a decently thick felt-ish cowl over this area from the factory covering it. Did you guys remove that to add the wire mesh or did earlier year trucks not come with this covering?

I make my own, non sticky and smells nice. Cover mint with water and cook. Empty water into spray bottle and start spraying. I've also found that if the rig is in the garage just leave the hood open. They are like little mobsters who need their back against a wall. Seems like they could make a wire coating the rodents didn't like in the first place, but nooo.
