Lol, I was thinking LEGO TUNDRA!

Man, if I had the room to spray myself, I'd do it. Did a fender and a quarter panel, but just don't have the room to put a shell and have at it. I salute you sir, a man after my own heart. Well done and I'm sure your daughter is proud of you and the job you did.

Is snugtop something special? I assumed they were all about the same quality. The PO bought a snugtop for mine; it wasn't on and I didn't even know it existed when I handed him the check. As I was leaving he asked if I wanted the shell for the truck. Sure enough he had a paint matched snugtop in the back alongside the factory wheels, unused oem carpet mats and mirror extensions for towing. The only thing I didn't love about the whole setup was that the snugtop dealer did a hack job with the wiring. They sliced several wires in the trailer harness lengthwise and just left them to the elements, not to mention scotch locks .

He was just commenting on something I posted. I had mentioned that the Jason camper shell I had purchased wasn't on par with the shells from ARE, Leer or Snugtop. I have no evidence to support my claim, it's just what I'd been made to believe by years on the interwebs. Is it true? :notsure:

I had a Snugtop on my first gen and was happy overall, but the connection points fiberglassed into the shell did come undone after several years of hard use. Not having any experience with other shells, I too am at the mercy of their advertising and comments by other Snugtop owners. Bigger company, bigger advertising budget, bigger customer satisfaction base, and a good product. That doesn't mean by any means that a smaller company doesn't make a shell as good or better than Snugtop. If they've been in business for a while and have a solid reputation with their customers, and are competitively priced, I say why not.

Still had the receiver off from the rear bumper replacement. Bought a needle gun from HF and went to town on it. It was really rusty. I should have taken a pic of the pile of rust I knocked off it. Cleaned it up and hit it with some rust converter. I'll paint it tomorrow. Special thanks to the Navy for making me a force to be reckoned with wielding a needle gun haha.

It's a possibility..... I need to do the body mount chop so I can fit 37's. I just got a replacement mirror and tail light off eBay, so I'm probably NOT going to be doing the 3rd Gen facelift. I can't stop myself when I see doubletracks off the side of the road.

Installed my new head unit today. Pre-wired for backup camera and sub amp.

Sounds soooooo much better; even with factory speakers!

Swapped the dead cigarette lighter for usb charging ports.

Yes, looking forward to more progress. In the pics it looks like very thin sheet, but I can't really tell.

Thanks. The main structure is 1/4” plate with some 3/16” where it made sense. So far I’ve used all scrap from another job except for the winch tray.

Where did you get the matte surround? I thought the choices were gloss, and gloss with flecks in it lol.

The knob is slightly obstructed by the surround but I couldn’t pull it any more forward and still have it solidly mounted. Overall I’m happy with it.

eBay, just like everything I buy. Lol
