    Hello
    First post here.

I purchased my first Tundra last month.

I ran into a guy who owned a Vagabond Drifter, and decided last summer that I wanted to get a new Toyota and drifter.

When I realized that some folks have waited 21 months and still don't have a firm date, I decided to search for alternatives. I love the vagabond. No knock against them. Their product is impeccable. I just needed something sooner.

When I called Mario at AT Overland, He informed me that they just had someone back out of a 6.5' Summit model.

So I pulled the trigger today and paid half down.

I should have it within a couple of months. Waiting on shipping.

I was disappointed at the lack of videos on the Summit/Tundra combo. So I will get a few videos made up right after I get mine.

I'll post pics and videos right here for those interested.

    Just heard from my dealer.

They are waiting till the manufacturer had 5 units ready to ship together on one truck load.

I will get a 6 week advance notice before it ships. I suppose that the 6 weeks notice is when the manufacturer starts building the last unit.

I'll post back here when I get my notice.

I would love pics from any owners on here.

I'm in Oregon. I would enjoy meeting up with any Summit owners in the PNW.

I am looking at a Habitat and everyone I have spoke with loves theirs. I have yet to hear 1 person regret their purchase.

    And

My dealer returned my email asking about a delivery date.

He stated that my Summit is scheduled to be finished mid June.

He believes we could see delivery in later June or early July.

I'll post up when I get a firm date. And plenty of pics and videos after that.

I have an atlas on order that will be ready around Mid July. pretty pumped about it! my neighbors son has a summit on his tacoma and that's what swayed my decision over a Vagabond. The price is steep but the product is very well made.

I am curious how AT will mount the camper to the Tundra. Ive seen some mounted to the tundra with just top bolts going through bed side caps and some mounted like this tacoma with a 90 degree plate tied into the cargo rails.

Thank you for the pics. Any chance you would take a video of the Summit?

I have the plain Jane bed caps. No fancy rails on the bed. No tie downs connected to the rails.

Mine is the 2021 SR5. I may see what the rails cost.

Based on what I've seen and what my AT Atlas deposit invoice states, the Tundra and other full size trucks get bolted through the bed cap to the bed

I think the rail set was around $180 from a local dealer, they are cheaper from the big online dealerships (I prefer McGeorge as their shipping is quite reasonable usually); but given the size/weight of the package it was more cost effective for me to grab it locally.

Where are you located? We'll be headed out to AT Overland to grab our Atlas, scheduled for the end of August, but hopefully ahead of schedule!

For those guys that did not chose the Habitat, why did you choose the smaller tent platforms?

We were pretty much set on a Habitat (and have been considering one for probably 3 years now); as we got closer and closer to being ready to order one, we swayed to the Atlas.

We love the separation of sleeping/working(cooking, changing, hanging out, whatever) that the Habitat offers, as well as the built-in rear awning when it's open. However, after chatting with AT Overland, as well as reading posts/seeing videos from people with Habitats in below freezing temps, as well as in high winds, our minds switched. Issues with the Habitat's tent material freezing (particularly when the inside is heated and it is snowing/sleeting outside) causing a delay in collapsing it, as well as the massive amount of interior space to keep heated. We've grown to really love quick setup and tear down (our ground tent is a Gazelle T4, our current RTT is a CVT Mt Hood with an Exped Megamat so that we can keep all our bedding in it) and appreciated the Atlas' "inside" setup.

I think a lot of it depends on your camping style and environment. The vast majority of nights that we are camping we get into camp in the evening (or at night), set up camp, heat up a dehydrated meal, have a beer, and head to bed. In the morning it is a dehydrated breakfast, coffee, and back on the road within 30-60 minutes of waking up. While we do it a handful of times a year (as it's the preference of some of our camping/overlanding group) staying in the same spot for more than a night, or in a campground with facilities isn't our preference. Additionally, we find ourselves camping in below freezing temps more and more each year, and it also happens to rain more frequently than not while we camp. With the ease of not having to "set up camp", we can plan on more winter adventures. We were originally planning on a diesel heater for the Atlas, but instead jumped on board with their new Truma propane-based heater; the cleanliness of the install on the side wall and having the intake/exhaust through a single hole in the topper (thus not having to cut large holes in the bed) sealed the deal.

When I had my habitat installed I had 3 options
    1) topper style clamps
    2) a full length bar that mounts to the bed rail
    3) drilling vertically through the bedside and bolting

I went with option 3 as it’s the most solid and I never plan to remove it. I also still have full use of the bed rails which is nice.

    Hi Ryan

I wanted something a bit stealthy, in hopes I could use it covertly.

    Also wanted nearly instant setup.

We don't go out camping very often. So this is a substitute for getting motels when traveling.

    It's not inexpensive.... $2500 installed

Our justification was that a big name 4kw diesel (or petrol) heater is around $1500-1700 with all the accessories and what not, plus cutting the holes for the installation, and figuring out a tank. This comes pre installed into the Atlas upon delivery and just needs power and propane (both things we already have)

I called Mario at AT Overland and discussed the propane furnace.

My wife and I decided that the comfort, over years and years of usage would be worth the cost.

And yes, it was $2,500 installed, and that's just the furnace.

I will need to provide a tank, and power supply also.

I promise lots of pics here

Has the annex room been worth it? How long do you stay in the same spot typically?

Definitely. You have a ton of flexibility to enclose all 3 sides or just one. You can also add poles and stake out a side (or multiple) as an awning.

Most of the time I’m only in a spot for a night, but sometimes 2-3. The quick setup and tear down of habitat is awesome when combined with the amount of space you get

I am getting my new AT Overland Summit installed tomorrow morning.

I think I will start a brand new thread in Tundra General discussion, so more people see it

I'll put a link right here, so you folks subscribed here will be able to hop on over there.

I will flood that thread with pics.

    Catch you tomorrow.
