I had a 2017 crewmax tundra and ran 6112s with icon rr in the back. Looked great, rode like a hay wagon. Rough. Long story short that truck got totaled and I’m waiting on my new 2021 to be delivered in a few weeks. So I’m planning for it.

90% of my driving is highway, 5% is pulling a boat and 5% is off-road during hunting season on logging roads and rough fields.

Would fox 2.0 be adequate for my needs up front and still provide a softer ride I’m looking for? Should I move up to fox 2.5? Kings? I’m really all over the place, would appreciate some honest advice. If I could skip out on paying $1500 for the fronts and be fine doing so I’d love that.

Fox 2.0 should be adequate for better ride comfort but you definitely don’t want to skip upgrading the front

Im happy with 6112s and 5160s; have fronts at about 1.75" and stock rear. Dialing tire pressure in was key for me on ride comfort. Budget friendly in the grand scheme of things. With that, I would love to have Kings and may do so when these shocks are worn out- not budget friendly...

Part of my thinks I didn’t give the 6112s a fair shot due to having 10ply tires at the time. Maybe I should look at them again. Did I mention I was indecisive lol. Luckily I have plenty of time to decide.

In the same boat as you with my 2020. I went 5100s knowing full well I may not like them. If I don’t, I am going to the full 3” BDS coilover kit. Hate to make a mistake but ride is so subjective I am going to experience the 5100s. I never off-road only street and a sled deck in the winter.

I don’t have the fox 2.0’s. Might you might call them and see if they can valve them soft/plush before they get sent to you. Maybe the vendor you buy from could do it as well?

If you do get kings. Either king or the vendor can valve them super plush. Add adjusters and you can make them firm if and when needed. Then soft/plush on the way home.

I’ve read a few statements from several saying kings quality isn’t quite as good as fox. Materials used, braided vs nylon hoses, a lot of kings seep oil ect. That’s honestly pretty much the only thing keeping me from buying kings.

For what you describe as your use, I'd take a good look at Eibach Pro-Truck. Their valving is spot on...smooth and controlled, yet compliant for the everyday stuff. My buddy's Tundra rides way better than others I've been in (Bilstein and Fox equipped), on-road or off. And you'd save a fortune over the options you've listed.

I understand. You might call fox and see if they can do a custom valve (plush) for you before they build them. King told me they would, they just needed the po number from the order. But there are vendors that will do it as well if they had them on the shelf and ready to go.
