Bilstein 6112/5160 Settings

Hi All,

I'm looking into purchasing and installing the 6112/5160 set up, but before I take the leap I wanted to get some clarification. I want to *nearly* level the front with the rear, but maintain a slight rake. When I go hunting or camping and have water/coolers/gear, etc. I don't want to be nose high. I'd also like to avoid shackles or shims, if possible, to keep costs down. I've read that if you put the 6112 at the top setting, the truck ends up slightly nose high, even without any load, and I definitely don't want that. If I put the 6112 at the 1.9" setting, will it maintain a slight rake, even after it settles?

BTW, I have a 2016 Double Cab, if that makes a difference for weight distribution. I have no after market bumpers either.

Yup, just put them at a lower setting than top.

 

Mine is at the 1.9 inche setting and is dead level.

 

At the 1.9 inch setting, you'll be sitting at the exact same height as a TRD Pro. I parked next to one and it was identical.

How do you like the ride compared to stock (TRD Off Road)?

 

Much better. A little firmer on road, but it is way better off road.

Myself and my wife both dislike the super squishy/bouncy suspension and am looking forward to the stiffness that we should get when I change the suspension.

 

Where did you get the shocks for that price?

Do the 6112's have to be removed to be adjusted or can they be adjusted while mounted?

i have the 6112s on the top setting with 5160s and toytec shackles on middle setting. I know you dont want to deal with shackles but just thought i would post for reference.

 

Muley, what size tires you got?

 

Those are 275/70r18. They look super small at times. Getting 295s next

 

That looks good...I actually was looking at the adjustable shackles at Toytec. This gives me a great reference!

Thanks ya these shacklez are set at the middle setting. It was way to ass high when i tried them on the top setting. In person those tires look real small !

 

This is my 2017 CM 4X4, 6112's at top setting, 5160's with no shackles yet but I have CB #2 standing by, I just don't want a high rake!. SCS SR8 rims and 295-70-18's Nitto Ridge Grapplers!

Here it is with the 6112/5160 and Yokohoma g015 AT 275/60 R 20. Almost 3" of lift all the way around. The Windex bottles are 10" high and you can see 3-4" between them and the bottom of the step.
