I have one of these. How do you find the sharpness of the blade? I sent mine back to CR for a sharpening and it is still not very sharp. Material and workmanship are top notch but that blade doesn’t seem to hold an edge.

I can make mild steel sharp, but edge retention is a separate issue. Different steels and heat treatments make for a huge range of quality described as edge retention, hardness, toughness, ease of sharpening, and others

I like mine overall but I am also a little reluctant to really use them too?

It’s a pretty big billet for a filet knife. Could split it down the middle and make 2? One for us both, lol!

Dang, there's an idea! Been looking for a big filet knife for kings, but reluctant to pull trigger on something too skinny. If anyone's got one they'd recommend PM me. Can't really justify spending big bucks on one I'll use about a week out of the year, but I think that's a sweet idea.

I really like the shape of this knife. Do you use it or is it a collection piece?
This is a great looking knife and I could see that one on my belt. Do you carry this knife?
Feather patterns work great for a dagger, but I’m not sure I have a use for a dagger, lol!
I’m getting pulled between making a knife that would become a really useful edc or a supercool maybe collectible

Unfortunately I don't have either of the pictured knives though I wish I did. These are my Tanto and Wharncliffe that I actually have.

Just picked this up - can't speak to how it will hold up, but the AUS-8 blade has a great edge out of the box.

Nice locking mechanism and auto conversion too.

I like these. They belong to David Sharp now. If you don’t know who he is, you are not a custom knife guy. He said he uses the chef daily in a review, although he thought it was over polished for a chef. Fair enough.

Just found this thread and reading a few pages saw mention of that crazy South African knifemaker in Boise, Chris Reeve.
I have one of his gentlemen folders, a Mnambi. This pic isn't mine - mine is inlaid with Rosewood Burl. Each one is unique and beautiful tool. Chris makes knives for our special forces, too.

I only have two knives. One is a Gerber Strongarm that I've had since 2019 and the other is a Spyderco Para 3 Lightweight that a friend gifted to me for my birthday this year.

One is a great camp knife and the other stays with me most of the time.
It's nice being able to legally conceal the Para.

I have always carried Kershaw knives, considering i loose them every few years they really do the job for the price.

Dollar per dollar it is my opinion they are the best knives available. It's just like you said, they are great knives while you have them but if you lose them it isn't a huge deal.

It's the Boker Strike Drop Point 3.5". Cheap on www.bladehq.com

They have great prices on Benchmade knives too, though I think you can get a better knife for less $.

Kershaw is one of my favorites too. They have the $30 to $40 range (Made in China) knives that are perfect for daily carry and then the $70+ range (Made in USA) that are probably a bit better quality; still not the end of the world if you lose it. Of course you always lose the $300 Benchmade but never the $30 Kershaw; just the way it works.

Your picture reminds me of another reason I love Kershaw. I can have 10 of them for the price of a Benchmade :D

This was one of the first knives I spend more than $100 on. I wish I never sold it. I didnt carry it much and I became a bit of a Benchmade & Spyderco snob so I sold it. Not the end of the world but it would be cool to still have in the collection.
