So some crackhead came across a center turn lane and into my lane yesterday. Was in a slight curve and he basically went straight. I first thought he was just getting into the turn lane until he kept coming into mine. I swerved over as quick as I could and luckily avoided a head on. Tundra took it like a champ but pretty messed up. Not sure if it’s fixable or totaled. Not sure which I’d prefer, Owell. So much for paying it off soon.

My wife and I are both fine as far as we can tell. Little shook up but that’s about it. No airbags and I don’t feel like we even took much of a jaring. Just the loud noise of the impact.

Anyway, what do you think? 7480EC80-6BEC-4E15-B683-604F6FEA204B.jpg

Glad you’re ok. That looks similar to the damage my truck sustained and it was totaled out. Good luck with everything!

Wow...what a rough day, glad you were paying attention and were able to swerve. Defensive driving definitely saved the life of the other guy for sure. Might be okay to fix if the frame wasn't bent but even then. Glad everyone was okay.

Glad you are okay. I went through a similar incident in December. My 2020 with 14k miles was totaled because the frame mounts for the suspension were bent. I came out okay money wise, but just dealing with insurance sucks in general. Best of luck to you.

Glad you are fine. If not totaled, I’d demand a new steering rack in addition to any body work they do to fix it. I think it also depends on what that lca mount looks like.

Just noticed your fender flare is in his windshield.

No airbags going off, so from my amateur view, it should be repaired. How do you know this person was a crackhead though? Lol.
Drivers nowadays have gone completely insane, especially after months of lockdowns it seems. I see more people role stop signs now than ever. Glad y’all were ok, and Guns Up!

The guy was really messed up and under the influence of something, especially for how fast he was going and apparently out of control. He first tried to get out of his car and walk off, kept wanting to get something out of his car. I'm sure a lot was contributed to the impact, but he was messed up on something for sure. Guns Up!

I got rear ended one time by a drunk driver in my UPS truck. He hit me, and got into his car and took off....local constable tracked him to a neighborhood a few blocks away.
Good luck with this process. Definitely make sure u get the truck fixed to better than new condition if it does get repaired.

Just by looking at the pics, my bet is it will be totaled. That being said, the truck is a material item that will be replaced. You and your wife aren’t, and I echo everyone else’s sentiments by saying glad everyone is alright. Good luck with the insurance process.

Only thing about air bags is Toyota’s I hear have certain sensors that will only allow them to go off with certain impacts. It’s like it knows if they’re needed. This happened to my wife and no air bags went off and it was $18,000 Bill to their insurance. No frame damage or anything major other than front bumper and all those parts and hood. There were hundreds of small parts to order because these front ends have so many small electrical parts to make it “safe”.

Glad y’all are safe! If the frame is good with no airbag deployment that is 100% rebuildable. If it’s not totaled and possible pay that dude off and the insurance money will be payed directly to you. That will give you more leverage on repairs and the components you may prefer. (Bumpers, UCA, shocks etc) Plus you may end up with some extra in your pocket.

Make sure if they do the repair that you get genuine Toyota parts. Insurance companies like to force repair shops to use cheaper aftermarket parts. Those parts can result in a vehicle that doesn't perform as well in the next crash so it compromises your safety.
