    Thank you.

Nothing I have seen with my own eyes seems to compare to your island paradise. Perhaps you've seen @Professional Hand Model about? Seems like that's the kind of place he'd reside.

It is a small town of just over 4,000 people. 30,000-ish in the county.

I know at least three quarters of them. :rofl:Directly, or indirectly through other family members.

Would it be wrong if I said your the kind of guy who stands in line at Sears for a free replacement socket wrench because you put a 3 foot pipe on the end of it to get more torque? :D

That one is actually not mine. It's a co-workers. He's a ginormous dumbass.

He's the kind of guy who gets a new adapter from the tool crib at work for free.99.

He gets a new adapter, and then uses momba speed three with the ¼ milwaukee hex driver on any, and all fasteners because its "faster." Needs a new adapter again in a week.

He breaks more small, big fasteners, and sockets than I've ever seen.

If you think that’s bad, There’s a guy at my work who dropped a million dollar computer server off a forklift....twice!

For some reason he’s the only qualified guy to do the work and he still works there because he’s protected by the union.

No unions here. Toyoda manufacturing is a non-unionized company. We are employed or unemployed by our work ethic, drive, and knowledge. Mostly...

We've got the opposite problem here. Management screws up more projects than we ever could. Union guys get written up for 'wasting' screwdriver bits.

Couple years ago they scrapped a 2 year old 1 million dollar air handler because they spec'd the wrong size, this year it's a 100k for improperly sized duct work. Couple weeks ago they paid 8K for a 40 gallon water heater and $500 for 10ft of 3/4 PVC.

Don't you work at a publicly funded university...or am I thinking of someone else?

How is the department "self-funded"? Do you have customers? Is the customer the university? In other words who is providing the funds to pay for replacing a 2yo $1million air handler? That doesn't sound like an entity that is concerned about the colors black/red. I only know of one entity like that...

I wasn’t the one who replaced a 1mil dollar air handler.
Our dept doesn’t receive funds from the state like the rest of the university, but we are still tied to it, our dept is anything and everything involved with residential life(dorms) so the kids are our customers almost like an appt complex?
Thankfully all of that is way above my pay grade

Sort of? We're a private university that gets indirect public funding, whatever that means. I believe it's mostly agriculture/science based for that funding since it's a land grant university.

At any rate of I came close to fucking up that bad I'd be looking for a new career.

Here in gubermint defense work, management tends to be penny wise and pound foolish. Don’t have a materials budget to come up with an economical solution? Let’s spend twice the amount in labor costs to meet the same goal. They never seem to have the right people giving input to proposals around here.

Walk in a small business owners shoes and you’ll think the same way. But you business owners are rich! You evil corporations robbing the poor people of their paychecks! You don’t have to work. What do you mean my money is paying for your vacation/house/meals? Those are just some of the dumb come backs I’ve heard as a business owner.

Meanwhile half my ‘revenue’ goes bye-bye to pay for who knows what at some govt/private/public self non funding funded with smoke and mirrors ‘non-profit’ that make$ profit. Hope that makes sense and thank you for letting me vent. :D

I know you all work hard, too. :boink:

I agree (especially about unions) but some Gubment workers do work hard. Gov grunts like me, retied USPS mailman and now low level underpaid State worker, do more for less than you would think. On the other hand, appointed upper level are usually overpaid assholes.

Yeah. I know its tough making generalizations which I see your point on. I was venting and removed my KMA comment but you captured it.

I’m getting frustrated with all my suppliers being slow and unresponsive. Talked with someone last night in Retail and their service dept. just glosses everything knowing its untrue. The workers are frustrated as they want to serve better but hands are tied if they still want their job so I see your point for sure.

I see your point on the upper level assholes too, as I have to deal with them in a different way. Fortunately, many of my clients are pretty chill and understanding.

Now the real battle from small business will be the IRS bs thats about to turn what used to be a 20 hour a month job into 60 hours a month.
