New Tundra on the way!

Well, I just ordered my new 2021 Tundra CrewMax SR5 from the factory. Hopefully here in 2-3 weeks!

And you know this because?? You only joined in January and I see you had issues with your delivery during Covid. Sorry about that but in the last month if you checked, Toyota stated they held back because of the chip shortage and now are back to regular production. At least that's what they say. Hoping it's true but it is what it is!

 

Well, the factory has been having trouble pumping these out for dealerships. There have been reports of the dealerships delaying custom orders trucks for months or (worse case) cancel them out right. Just be prepared for the worse with the truck being delayed is all.

 

You comment said "Ordered" No way can Toyota build you a truck in 2-3 weeks - I ordered October 26 and received it January 18, and since than production was cut 40% due to the chip shortage - than again maybe your dealership already has the truck you so called ordered in allocation...Either way hope you get it sooner rather than later!

Both are very nice. My truck took about 4 weeks to actually get to the dealership after I put my deposit down on it. But I'm a happy camper now.

 

All I can do is hope for early shipment as I have the docs with VIN assigned. Glad you are happy as I hope to be as well. Good run with a couple of Tacos but body don't flex to get in like it used to. This guy needs to go large. LOL!

 

Well just received my estimated due date from Toyota, given as 3/25. Lets hope it is in a couple weeks, not months as others have stated.

Good for you! I ordered my truck 8/22. It was late Nov. before I got a vin, took delivery 12/18. Glad it’s working out for you.

 

I ordered a 2021 SR5 CM this past weekend. Dealer says Toyota is only taking orders on custom build "sold units". They are not building trucks right now for dealer stock unless already in the pipeline. Dealer lot drop is estimated mid May... I'm coming from a SR5 DC so I'm anxious to get into a new CM.

I picked mine up today. (I commented on your Tacoma World post as well)

I ordered mine last week of Feb so only took about 2.5 weeks for them to get mine here, I might have just been lucky that one was build almost exactly as I wanted in Feb and had not shipped from the factory yet so my dealer was able to get it switched and shipped to them. Jay Wolfe Toyota did a good job for me.

They had first tried to trade for one in Chicago but it had just sold.

 

Welcome from LA (Lower Alabama)! I ordered mine March 16 of last year. It was at the dealership by the end of the month but I couldn't pick it up until mid-May due to Covid. It was a custom order but they were able to modify one that was already in the pipeline at the regional port.

 

Well that did not take long. Was told truck had arrived, being detailed and having its windows tinted. Hope to pick up tomorrow!

 

congrats! It sounds like you did not order a custom tundra build, but rather just got one that was already coming in. They can't make a truck in a week from the date you order. Hell, right now you cannot even place an order for a custom build with Toyota.

 

Sorry to disappoint and don't know where you are getting your info from. I also am not looking to be argumentive. However, facts as they may be, this was a custom build order with NO VIN originally assigned as would be such with something in the pipeline. I can say that with because I tried that angle. I even contacted Southeast Toyota who supplies all the vehicles sold in Florida. I did what they said and it just happened the order hit at the same time Toyota got their chips in. And yes they can make a truck in less than a week. LOL

Most customizations can be done at the receiving port. It sounds like that is exactly what happened. I know you're pumped!

Magnetic Gray Metallic. Was looking for maybe red to be different but seems I would have to spend 10K more, NOT!
Everything else I saw or was able to get was white or black. Guess the paint is cheeper.

 

The MGM is good looking still. Congrats!

 

No way this was custom, your dealer is BS’ing you. This truck was already in their allocation or they traded an allocation with another dealer. I got my Platinum on 3/12, been waiting since the last week of December. Also, my Platinum was not a custom order, it was an allocation trade with another dealer. Also, Gulf States Toyota is not even taking custom orders anymore. I see you worked with Southeast.....not sure what is going on in that region.
