Has anyone actually had the warranty pay for any issue on their Tundra? I have been told no twice even though I have done all scheduled maintenance. Latest was a spring on cylinder 3 where they said no because I did not change the spark plus BEFORE 100k. I think this is a continued problem on the Tundras and I wish a recall would happen at some point.

If you are considering the warranty do not bother IMO as all I have heard was negative results when you try to get it covered. Just a heads up to save you money and time.

My Toyota Platinum has saved me almost 7x over with no issues from the supporting dealer.

Sorry your having bad luck but sounds like your dealing with a 3rd party warranty and not Toyotas.

Agreed. I've had almost no warranty issues, but my dealership has taken care of any issues, no problem.

When buying my truck, I was curious about this, so I actually *asked* for examples of how the unlimited warranty benefitted their consumers.

They told me there were people there @ the dealership right now that I could talk to (owners, not employees) who have had to make use of it, and I could talk to them to get their opinion.

So I did - they basically said "Long as I did obvious maintenance - e.g., oil changes and the like, no worries." I asked if they had to do EVERY LITTLE maintenance item on time in the manual and they said "nope."

Toyota Platinum goes to 100,000 miles ... I am talking about the unlimited powertrain warranties that are being offered to people at certain dealers.

"Long as I did obvious maintenance - e.g., oil changes and the like, no worries." I asked if they had to do EVERY LITTLE maintenance item on time in the manual and they said "nope." This is 100% incorrect in my case and all others I have talked to ... they require everything exactly on time not 1 mile later. Any miss of course you are screwed.

Well, it's the case @ our dealership. (Side note: It's for the engine, not the transmission.)

Of course, if some dealerships can squeeze out of it, they will; but we're a bit more rural than most, and pulling that kind of crap where we live would tank the living crap out of their sales; which is likely why they're a bit more liberal in what they allow.

The longest Toyota Platinum Warranty I've heard of is 8year/125,000 and the nice thing about that is its through Toyota and honored at every Toyota dealership with no problems I've ever heard of. This Unlimited Powertrain Warranty I can only assume was offered through a particular dealership and that then makes it a problem Toyota will wash their hands of. Even when someone says their dealership is good it only means they are the nicest thief in the cellblock but they are still a thief.

That's why they're really called "stealerships". I was done buying anything from dealerships 15 years ago. The local Toyota dealer lost my trust when they lied through their teeth when I tried to buy my last new Toyota. It was a "brand new" '06 Camry. I noticed something didn't look right about the paint. The fleet manager who I was dealing with says there was nothing wrong. I got it home and in my garage. The paint under my garage lights still looked odd. I started really looking closely. I found overspray and specks in the clear coat. I took it back right away and demanded an explanation why my "new" car was in an accident and it wasn't revealed beforehand. He continued denying any damage and began to say maybe something got scuffed and was damaged while it was detailed.
I had enough of his lies and got the general manager involved. He kindly offered my money back and I was done with them for good. I also made a complaint to Costco since it was through their vehicle purchase program.
We then bought a brand new Acura MDX and we still have it.
