when slowing down to 5mph or so then attempting to accelerate my engine revs like it’s in neutral before catching up and actually accelerating. Example would be a rolling stop at intersections. It drives me crazy. I’m not really sure if it’s just the way the trucks transmission works or there’s a problem. I’ve owned the truck for several months now and it has always done it. 57,000 on it. If anyone could verify I would appreciate it.

Sounds about normal to me, though I do notice it more when the tranny is cold.

Bought mine new. Have 67000 miles now. Always does it in the same circumstances, very annoying:annoyed:
I remember reading somewhere in here that it has to do with pressing the brakes and then the accelerator too close together or something to that effect. I could be wrong though.

When it does that, i let go of the accelerator and then press it again and it seems to respond a little faster and less jerky.

It’s funny but Rams get lemon lawed over what you’re describing . lol
Look at it like this .... if you’re slowing down to stop and the transmission is just about to downshift , then you step on the gas , the computer is in the middle of telling the transmission to downshift when now it’s telling the transmission to leave it where it is ( whether it be 2nd or 3rd ) or whatever .
Sorry , it’s sounding right in my head . I don’t know if it’s making sense when I’m writing it . lol

Mine does the same; it's absolutely a computer 'learning' thing, as I had my truck serviced for a minor HVAC issue, and to do so they had to reset the computer. After getting it back there was *NO* hesitation. So I guess the fix is either

    - pull the battery terminal and let it sit
    - put it in Tow/Haul mode, or
    - drive it like you stole it more. LOL

also at 60k miles I would suggest a trans drain and refill, it is time for that service.

I read something a while ago about a ecm reflash, Not saying you need it..It's actually happened on mine early on but I figured out how to manipulate it by feathering the gas on take off if I'm still rolling.

edit: I'm a left foot braker, which probably doesn't help.

Great input. Thanks for the reply’s. I feel a little better about it now as far as my tranny being ok. I will try looking into a few of your suggestions. As far as driving it like I stole it, the hesitation is preventing that. Lol

Left foot braking probably actually helps you by allowing you to hold more RPM while slowing. I found the less I allow the engine speed drop in turns, the less likely the tranmission is to "hesitate". Doesn't take much, just a touch, maintaining barely high idle RPM.

It's all tied up in electronically controlling the transmission shift points. It was pretty disappointing at first, coming from a lifetime of glass-smooth, barely noticeable Turbohydramatic shifts. Those transmissions are gone now, just like the dinosaurs.

You have a drivetrain warranty until 60k. You could take it in to get checked out if you like your dealer. But it sounds like it’s normal.

Maybe it's the timing, because my right foot is definitely off the gas when braking with my left foot.

This. Mine does it in first acceleration. I drive it normally after the first acceleration, and I think it happens only when engine is cold, but OP's truck does it all of time looks like. Take it in, that's not normal.
