What have you done to your 1st gen Tundra today?

All day. Every day. Constant soakage.

 

I soaked the snot out of as many I could prior, then had a guided meditation spray fest, more self guided meditation to let the penetration of kroil do it’s thing to the rust universe.
I thought I twisted a stud on my first go around w a ratchet, but didn’t, but realized it was going to be a pain in the D with the rest of the bolts. I did a downward dog pose and let the first one rip, it came out great, so I knew the yoga and spray meditation had done it’s work.
All the studs looked pretty good once it was all off, I wire brushed each one after I scraped and scotch brited each exhaust port

Haha I sat down for lunch with ma and momma bear, and both said I smelled like Kerosene or something.
My can was petering out on the passenger side, I had to do some straw bendies to get it to shoot where I needed it too!

 

Yeah it’s stamped on it twice, do not hold. I also found out that Bertha can pick up sand(again all rolling around in a gravel driveway) and when you pull the trigger; it launches at you like a sand blaster!!!! Even a few trigger strokes to clear it! Be warned!!!

 

I tried that before when I was looking at headers. Some of the manifold nuts are barely even visible and even harder to spray.Wasn't sure if all that penetrant on the manifolds would catch fire either.

 

@FrenchToasty is this the one you have? I'd like to have one that size.

I returned from a long trip today. It was an epic flyfishing adventure with a good fishing buddy. Thanks to useful advice from you guys throughout my many repairs I was confident to take the old girl on this journey. She performed like a champ!
Pyramid Lake in NV... Total mileage round trip: 2196 miles, mostly I-80 but some mild offroading at the lake accesses.
Total spent on gas: $515, and well worth it! I hate flying and love having the freedom of my own rig. I could have taken the Jeep but I love this Tuna.

Arrival at the lake. New & old. My buddy has a the newer one. He was the original purchaser of mine prior to my ownership. It was OE and kinda beat when I got it from him... now he wishes he had it back, LOL.
His is super nice but mine suits my style better.

What good is a fishing trip without some fish pics? We caught a lot of beautiful Lahontan Cutthroats... sea monsters. Challenging fights on 8WT fly rods. 35" was the largest.

No on the V8 it's damn near impossible to see some of the nut/studs that hold the manifolds in place. It's pretty tight in there. Some are easy to see but others are not. Even harder to actually spray them. Mine are rusty but not horrible. I'm sure they will come off when the time comes.

 

Gotta get yourself a spider leg.

 

Yeah I did a lot of weird moves and looky looues thru some weird places to even see where I was trying to get a socket on, haha on the ground shade tree wrenching is tiring!

 

I am with you there man. Unless there is an ocean between me and where I am going I would rather drive there.

I don't fish but this kind of makes me want to if the answer to my next question is yes.

Do NOT install those....they are totally shit. I put new speakers in my 2017 Tacoma and it sounded like I replaced the whole system the OEM speakers are so bad....plus I bet they are the wrong OHM to work with your oem JBL amp if you have one.

 

Had the tires balanced today, and they clocked on of my fronts 180* out. Think this could initiate the shimmy? I know the brakes drag because i can feel the heat. But before hitting brake i can feel shimmy from the front, and brake pedal is smooth through the hardest braking. There is a little play in the right inner tie rod area, but less than the squaw, and the squaw dont shimmy.

 

Thanks for asking! She's still sitting, waiting for that new rear main seal. I called Toyota and they did confirm a different part number than what I'd installed. Will get it done next week hopefully!

I dragged him backwards and downhill but that thing wouldn't get off the slope on his passenger side. Got him as far as I could but ran out of space due to a tree on his right/rear.
