Don't drive crazy. Don't constantly stomp on the gas, don't be heavy on the brakes because you don't stop in enough time as you should. Keep it stock. Drive it properly. If you follow all of this, you can get 16-17mpg in town and 19-21 hwy all day long.

Around town I usually get 14.5 to 15 MPG. On the highway I'll usually get 17-18 MPG in areas with hills; 19 or so in flat areas.

I got 33’s and it is tougher. I could get up to 21.5mpg on flat interstate, average more like 18.5 on the factory 32”s. I could keep mpg over 15 in the city if I abstained from morning warm-ups.

I can still get 18-19 on freeways without traffic. Best I’m doing in town is about 14.

I’ll admit it just more fun to put the truck in beast mode and romp around versus paying any attention to the gas economy.

On E10, usually about 14 mpg with a 15 minute suburban commute. Might see 15 if I get ethanol free, or 10-12 with E85. Narrow factory size stock michelins

The strange part is that it's rated 13/17 on gas, so it's where it should be there, but I've yet to get less than 10 mpg on E85 for which it's rated 8/11.

It's not cheaper to run especially with the 2500-3000 mile oil changes but it's more fun to drive :anonymous:

Same here. I moved from 2017 Tacoma TRD 4x4 to Tundra Platinum 4x4. 1.5mpg less in the Tundra, but a ton more power.

Getting just 14.7 mpgs right now. Once the price of diesel fuel is equal or less than regular unleaded, I going back to driving the Excursion. It gets 16mpgs. :p

About 13 mpg on a 2021 CM 4WD. But my commute is 2.5 miles each way. It doesn’t even get a chance to warm up fully.

My average reads 14.4 over my first 10k miles. Haven't reset it since new.
I do a mix of commuting during the week (~20 miles each way) and long weekend trips around 3-400 miles in the mountains.
On longer trips I see around 18 on the tank average meter.
    275/70/18 Cooper AT3 XLTs w/ 2" front lift.
I drive pretty easy around town most of the time with the occasional romp here and there.
Keep it under 75 on the highway and you can get decent mileage, relatively speaking.
Haven't towed anything yet, but that's a whole other side of things.

In my Tundra I'm getting 128 miles to the gallon. About .4 ounces per mile. Roughly 8 days of commuting before I burn through a gallon of fuel.

I'm running 33s and not much else in terms of extra weight.

Tundras are terrible at MPG. I get 14 around town and maybe higher 16 on the highway. I run lower tire pressure in the winter that doesn’t help and running 33’ general grabber ATX tires. I also DAP tuned my rig 3 years ago, didn’t see any improvement on MPG. You can get better milage with domestic truck but reliability is reduced. Pick your poison.
Or do what I did buy a TDI for commuting and drive the tundra on the weekends and long trips. My TDI gets 40 MPG, that what I am talking about:thumbsup:

Hey guys. Just to be clear regarding my question. I asked because I know the truck is horrible on gas (even worse when towing) and also know I NEVER trust the estimated mileage given on the window sticker. My current 2017 Tacoma V6 is no gas champ either!!

Hence the question as to What Do You Really Get!

All that said I still think its better than the other choices out there quality wise as it will not be my everyday work vehicle.

Search MPG and enjoy the other 1000 posts talking about configuration and towing and tire and driving style and elevation and mod and season and fuel type factors into why they all basically give the same range of MPG numbers.

if you want you can compare the 2018 tundra (dec-2017) to my 2014 (dec-2013) 4runner, mostly 80% highway speed at 70-75mph 30miles to/from work 4 days a week. sits in the garage thursday nite until monday morning.

I've had my '19 about a week and put about 200 miles on it.
I floor it every chance I get around town and I'm getting 12.9.

OP, I try not to look but when I do it's about 11.4 MPG. I'm also in a 4x4 with 35s and bumpers and all kinds of extra weight. So it's kind of apples to oranges.

14 mpg if I'm lucky around town

On the freeway I can get 17.8 if the birds are flying south with the sun is at 13.9 degrees and the moon as made an appearance during the day.

Towing my travel trailer 6-8 mpg
