How did you fix the hole? I've got a hole in mine that was hastily repaired by previous owner. I want to redo it and get it flush with the surface, so I can wrap in color match.

Also, did you use any sealant when you reattached the windows after the wrap?

Great find! I love my MX, especially more now that it’s the right color lol. Honestly thought the grey on your black truck looks great. If I were you I wouldn’t even bother painting it

Main reason I got it was the lightness and adaptability. That's probably been the main pro. I live in the northwest so it's always overcast and rain. So far, there's a couple of spots that the seam sealer didn't cover and there's a little leak. For the price, it's a good solution for covering the back.

My A.R.E. CX Classic came in last week and it was put on today. So happy with how it came out. It took roughly 11 weeks to come in, so about what they said to expect. Now to pack it full of stuff for the move to Texas this week.

For roughly the same price as a Leer or ARE and near-immediate “get it now” time as opposed to 12+ week lead time, it’s a cap that’s a beast. Stainless steel, holds 700lbs, truly water/dust proof. And if I ever need to repair damage, the panels are replaceable (top, front, rear, sides) so theoretically no need to scrap the whole thing.

This will be my hardtop option down the road. Question - do you have the option of colors? I checked their website and it just has option to buy. No other options though. Also is it manageable with one person?

Supposedly colors will be an option once Covid is gone (it’s the running excuse for everything else, so might as well work for this too...). It was assembled where I bought it and it was easy to install with three dudes. There are lots of YouTube reviews and I was very impressed with the flush automotive side glass, stainless construction and the environmental seals. It’s truly very high quality (far surpasses a Leer I had previously).

Going to be getting a cap soon here in the next few months, but it doesn’t got the carpet interior and is just pure fiberglass on the inside. Was thinking about just spraying it with bed liner to go with the bed of the truck. It will also be able to give the cap some rigidity. I am curious to hear other people’s thoughts if they have done this before or if doing the carpet is actually really worth it.

Debaged Snugtop on my '12. I love the overhang, but I am ocd about it contacting the paint.

I like the look so much that I bought a 5x8 trailer so I could run the shell year around. Why do I have a truck again?
    20210311_125948.jpg
Have any of you run into issues with the gasket on the rear glass rubbing the paint on the tailgate? The PO of my truck obviously didn't, but within 3 weeks of owning mine, I could see the paint scuffing. I bought a 4" strip of 3M clear film to stop the damage.

They appear to be between 3200-3800 bucks. Definitely more than fiberglass, albeit way nicer

Mine is just fibreglass inside. I don't see the advantage of carpeting it but I don't sleep in the back of my truck.

well let’s think this through... I looked at a mid-range ARE and Leer (I forget the models). Base is around $2400. To compare apples to apples, add windoors x2, add flush sliding glass to Windoors x2, add roof rack tracks and you’re around $3,200. For a 10% bump, you’re now at the RSI price. So as I said, it’s roughly the same price. Add to that the fact that ARE & Leer are sitting at about 10-12 week production delays and you can get the RSI delivered to your door by this Friday for free from several retailers active on this forum and I think you can understand how I say it’s a comparable cost. It was the right choice for me; others may value a color match or a carpeted liner and that’s cool, too. Thank God we still live (well, for the immediate moment anyway) in a nation where we’re free to decide how, when and where to spend our money.

That’s a pretty good pro. I love how the soft shell looks! They always look great to me over a hard shell. Only thing I always worry about is the leaks when It rains or snows. I sleep inside my shell. That’s the thing. I’m thinking to
Got soft shell with a bed rack over it to put a RTT on it. Still in the air lol.

700 lbs? Damn! That’s very useful! It’s almost like a robot haha. Does it have any hook ups? I mean I guess I can Google it myself. Just always want to get the customers view on it.

not sure what you mean about “hookups.” It comes with an integral rack track with several load bar, tray, etc. options to mount to the roof.

these are good points. Base model caps are right around 2k, however it would suck to pay 2k and have regrets with you get what ya pay for...

With options and packages, the Leer caps get pricey. It has to be close to RSI.

I sometimes regret getting my 100XR. A RCI bed rack with a tonneau cover would have been fun. I could use my back window, attach the bikes, and see better. But I don't think I'd have enough storage for longer camping trips, which is the main reason we bought it. Windoors and three access points for camping can't be beat.

I might get a Prinsu Top Rack for the Leer cap today. I've been on the fence for a while now. I bought the Thule bar system thinking I'd put our bikes up there. No way that works. I haven't used the Thule bars at all. I should have just bought the rails with no crossbars and put the Prinsu rack up there initially. Prinsu has a lot of cool accessories.

I asked on the RSI Smart Cap thread but didn't get an answer. Is there anyway to open the rear or side windows from inside if you were using it for truck camping?

Thank you, looks fantastic BTW, easily the best looking cap i've seen for our trucks, IMO.

there are two variants in the US; one is a commercial cap that has solid stainless side & rear windows; obviously one couldn’t see through those. The Evo version is tinted auto glass. There aren’t screens on the side windows but they open *only* from the inside (YouTube any review of the cap and you’ll see). There is *not* a way to latch/unlatch the rear hatch from the inside. Rumor is that they’re coming out with a modification or new lock to allow interior lock/unlock but it’s not the case now.

It looks like you drilled into the storage boxes and used the Prinsu load bars to secure them. You also added a few tie down rings. How are you securing stuff with those rings?

Twins! Lol, nice find. I gave up on the used market after a year. With no paint and body friends and DC market smaller than CM market it was a lost cause, finding good condition cheap enough to still paint and make sense. My area seems to be little less price wise, $2200 OTD.

My century cap (same as leer) total cost was $3386 so right in the ball park of the RSI

carpet adds a bit of insulation and noise cancellation, Good if you sleep inside. If not, doesn't really matter. Also gives a finished touch vs fiberglass only.
what made you from a GFC to a camper shell ?
