KO2 vs Dynapro vs Falken Wildpeak?

First I have to say hello, I am the owner of A 2014 crewmax limited. I love this site it is very informative.


I am looking for new tires. I have the crappy coopers that came with the truck and finally they are done. I am looking at BF Goodrich ko2 (275 60 20), handkook dynapro ATM or falken wildpeak at3 same size. My question is which one should I get, the BF is a LT tire while the others are P rated. The BF are 8 ply while the others are 4 ply. Which tire will ride better? Which one do you recommend? Any help would be appreciated. Thx

 

We do nothing but LT tires w/ an E load rating which is 10 ply. We primarily stick to the Toyo AT2 for the all terrains. I know that doesn't help much with your comparisons, but out of those, go with the KO2.

The ko2 are a great tire.

 

KO2!!! Some folks here have Falken and love 'em.

 

If you tow or haul, go with the KO2s. I have KO2s now and have had Falkens in the past (on a different truck). Both are great tires, but I would not consider a P rated tire for my truck. KO2 baby.

What are you driving requirements? Tow, offroad, snow, ice, rain?? Makes a huge difference. KO'2 wont ride as smooth as P rated tires, but will do better in all of the situations I listed.

 

I live in the Pacific north west so rain is the main thing. I don't off-road too much (I've one did it once) and I have only used my truck for towing once. This year we did get a lot of snow which is not normal for this area. I'm just concerned about the rough ride a LT might bring but I also don't like the mushy ride the dunlops have. Thx for the responses.

 

Honestly, if you don't like the mushy ride of the P rated tires, you'll like the firmer ride of the LT. That's how it was for me anyways.

If you do not go off road then go with a less aggressive tread pattern such as a Cooper AT3 maybe. There are lots of tires out there that are termed AT that have really mellow tread patterns.

 

Love me some BFGs! I've run the KOs in 31, 33, and 35 in the past. Now I've got 'em in 34".

 

K02 would be my choice out of all 3.
Also check Toyo and Nitto.

 

Toyo AT2 my first choice but if I had to pick off that list, I'd choose KO2.

I had the KO2s on my last Tundra for a little while, loved the tire, but they don't come in the size I wanted when I went bigger, so STT PRO for the win now

The Falken is a great seller in my area due to the price compared with the others. It is also a great looking tire.

 

+1 on the ko2s, great tire. I've got 18 thousand miles out of my current set.

 

Thanks for the advise. I know that the KO2 in 275 60 20 is a D rated tire 8ply so maybe it will not be as harsh as an E rated 10 ply. I think I might give the KO2's a try and then I can always do my suspension later on if I find them rough.

 

Get them....Pair them with 5100's and you will love them and the ride . Not loud at all and run smooth.. Plus look bad ass

 

After a bunch of research, I went with KO2's and couldn't be happier. I can't compare them to the others you have listed as I've never had any of those - so not much help there. I also drive in Colorado's almost daily changing seasons, so needed a solid tire for all the elements.

 

Just something else to think about. The lower profile the tire, the stiffer the ride. I know you have 20's, but if you went to an 18" rim, the tire would have a greater sidewall and a smoother ride. I went from my Nitto G2 285/75R-18 to my G2 37's, and that bigger sidewall gave me a great ride. Just my 2 cents........

You'll like the KO2s, I didn't find them rough at all. But, IMO, 275 is a bit skinny if you're planning on a lift in the future...that's why I went up to a 295.

 

I had KO2 on my last Tundra. Got 50,000 miles out of them. No complaints.

 

Falken wild peak AT3!!!

Have them on my Tacoma and they are great both on road and off.

Now that I got my lift set up, now tires and I see you have the Nitto's how do you like them, i'm inbetween the Nitto, Ridge, Toyo AT2 or RT and KO2

As you know I'll be at a 2.5" front with a 18" rim at +25 offset, wanting to know the biggest tire and minimal poke out I can run of these with best all round ride and good on wet roads!

I'm from the Pacific Northwest as well, and I really like Coopers SST Maxx tires. They don't ride rough at all. I'm running a LT305/55/20 and they are pretty smooth. There is a little bit of road noise at highway speeds though.
