Any thoughts on the 10,000 mile oil change ? Just bought my 2021 and 10,000 seems crazy to me but maybe I’m stuck in the past. Any downside to getting it done every 5,000, besides oil change cost ?

Always did my 2014 at 5000 miles and I am doing my 2020 at 5000 miles as well. I have no idea how someone could drain that oil at 10,000 miles and think that it was a good idea by the smell alone.

The better question is which brand and grade of oil will you choose?

I change every 10,000 miles using Amsoil Signature Series and TRD Performance Oil Filters on my 2020 Pro. Oil comes out a dark golden brown. Never had an oil analysis done, but I'm confident in the Amsoil. 36,000 miles currently...no issues at all with the truck!!

You know it’s funny , I was thinking of this too but my mechanic said something similar, you did it with your 14 Sequoia and never a problem , why change now?
Also get my tires rotated and balanced very 5 to 6000 miles so it keeps me on a schedule

10k is perfectly fine. I think the stuff to be more worried about is type of oil and how long between oil changes. And in reality the cheap oil of today is probably better then the best oil of 25 years ago.

Check the build link in my signature.
Did 10k changes on my 2008 for 297k miles without any issues. Will do 5k on my 2021 till the toyota care is over, then will likely switch to 10k after that. Always used Mobile1 full synthetic.

That’s what I’m planning. I’m old school in that oil changes go a long way.

I am going 10k or one year according to the manual. Unless you are doing extreme off-roading or tow at max for the majority of the time I would stick with 10k without a worry in the world...and if you are worried send the oil out for analysis. It’s relatively cheap and gives you much more information than many internet experts.

I ran 10k oil changes on my 2012 Tacoma (5k recommended), 2017 4Runner, quite a few RAV4s, my wife’s 2016 Highlander and my 2016 Corolla without issue. Most 0w20 are pretty stout...but I prefer Mobil or TGMO.

10k is what's recommended. Anything sooner is up to you. Changing oil too soon will never hurt a vehicle.

I like the blue ones. The red and green funnels don't do that great of a job.

I did 10,000 on my 2006 from birth to 245,000 miles with Mobil-1 Synthetic and am doing the same on my 2020. I did do the first at 5,000, then 10,000 from here on out.

I think it’s just the old way of thinking for me. Stuck on that 3-5k oil changes.

Yea that’s what I’m thinking. I always though of oil changes as a Small price to pay for piece of mind.

I've always been told new oil is better than old oil. While maybe not necessary, if you can afford it, it can't hurt.

Nice. Can’t argue with that at 245k. Most I’ve ever put on one car was 140k which was an 08 Silverado.

I do mine once a year or every 5k.
Oil is cheap to not be an oil burner later due to deposits or sludge build up.

Doubt you will find that in your owners manual. Toyota App is driven by dealers trying to make money on their own service schedule

Run 5k pull an oil sample and send it out to Blackstone, see what they say. If good, pull at 7.5k and repeat.
