2020 LandCruiser comes with transmission cooler, why not Tundra?

I doubt the 2022 tundra will have a external transmission cooler, probably why they made the change in 2019.

If you go back to the 2017 tundra there is a space in the fuse station inside the truck marked LED headlights, yet no wiring, 2018 comes along and bam LED headlights.

My local dealership has a few new LC’s in stock. No Sequoia’s which is what I’m looking at. I like the Lc’s, but $90k, not in my budget!

If you’re that worried about it you’re on your own. Toyota will not do anything at all. Why? Mostly because to this point there have been no cases where a 2019 has had a transmission go out because it did not have an auxiliary cooler. None.

Did you ask why we don't get the 8 speed too? I'd complain about that before the trans cooler if we're comparing to the 200 series :D

You answered your own question....it's $90k.:frusty:

Buy the auxillary cooler people on here have put together, pay someone to install it and you'll still be ahead $40k

Toyota is still learning from "The Big 3". If your trucks never wear out or break down, you sell fewer trucks! They're clearly trying to force us all to buy a new truck every 5-10 years instead of every 15-20 years!

Yeah. The 1st Gens Tundras with Tow Package came with the Cooler Radiator. Temps never go over 180° in Summer Heat while towing. In winter, the Temps barely go over 130° in 40° Ambient while towing. In other words, the Cooler cools!

Decided to add a Derale 180° Temp Control Valve (pictured) to warm things up better in the winter. It also acts as a Cooler/Heatsink in Summer once fluid reaches closer to 180° open valve.

Suggest you do something aftermarket to get what you want. Couple of nicely put together kits offered by members here.

They’ll wear you down and make you more miserable than you are about this in the first place. I’d rather spend the $125 into something that takes less time and is more enjoyable than beating my head into a brick wall.

The reason many are having fun at your expense is, this isn't the first time someone claimed they were going to sue Toyota over this.

It's probably the 4th time I've seen it since I joined.

    It never goes anywhere.

My two daughters are lawyers and one is married to a lawyer. So three close relatives are lawyers. I fail to see where you have a case but await the brilliant legal strategy you devise.

This is laughable. If you think filing a complaint in your local court is going to “drown [toyota] in court”, then in the words of South Park, you’re going to have a bad time.

We get that you’re upset, but this will not take you to any resolution you want. One corporate attorney Toyota sublets out in your jx is going to mop you up.

Furthermore, this is not legal advice.

So what do you expect them to say or happen?

It's a different vehicle. They can claim that one needs it and the Tundra doesn't, even if they are the exact same engine.

Toyota will squash you before you even get the papers on their desk.

I mean, really, if you're in the financial bracket to afford a $35-55k truck and your choice is to pursue legal representation over something that can be added if you are one of the (most likely few) people to actually benefit from a transmission cooler for <$1,000; maybe you shouldn't be spending so much on a truck.

Is it wrong that the window sticker/spec sheet says it has a trans cooler, but it doesn't actually? Yes. But is it worth finding an attorney to go after a major auto maker to try to rectify something that is so inexpensive to fix (and do better than the OEM cooler)? Not to me, and based on the fact that in two years this still hasn't become a huge issue for Toyota tells me that the vast majority of other's aren't bothered by it either.

I'll show myself off the soapbox here...

The word around here is, anyone who represents themselves is a nutbar. ;)

We deal with the court a lot in my line of work. I have yet to see or hear of anyone who represented themselves, have a verdict awarded in their favor.

I’ll give him something though, when an attorney sees a pro se case they have to give them ample time to figure everything out. Just imagine if there were a bunch of knowledgeable people out there, who knew they were so smart, where lawyers wouldn’t be needed anymore. Just a bunch of non-legal trained individuals trying to become legally competent.

maybe they should go to law school and pass the bar exam while they’re at it... and become lawyers.

This sounds a lot like the guy who was on a quest for “rock solid evidence” in a quest to force Toyota to retrofit auxiliary coolers on 19+ Tundras. Anyone remember who that was?

I wish you the best with your case, but I have to draw the line at the void warranty statement. The burden is on the manufacturer to prove that the damage submitted for warranty claim was caused by the modification. If the tranny cooler was installed properly and Toyota cannot prove that the installation caused the issue, then thye have to honor the warranty.

It has one....the puck acts as a heater and cooler. They did not lie. Its just a different type of heat transfer than you (or another customer for that matter) might have expected.

Does the puck have the ability to remove heat?
    Yes.
    Then it's a cooler.

Its efficiency could be a separate topic.

FWIW after 55k of some decent/hard use, a WS UOA off a MY19 came back in good shape without much criticism from Blackstone.
