Is this like bigfoot where all the pictures are a little blurry and far away? How come none of these "spy Shots" of trucks parked never have any shots where the person went over, leaned inr and took a picture of the interior ? C'mon. A hotel parking lot , with someone who obviously knows Tundras and nobody went out to the trucks and snapped a couple of pics?

Pictures of rear coil springs and nobody got a picture of the underside of the front, transmission, or interior?

These all have to be leaked photos by Toyota people on fake accounts or something.

Or they’re shopping the window pics to TFL or the like for the best price. I would think we’ll see what you’re talking about soon.

How do you know the 3.0 Duramax is trustworthy? It's essentially brand new.

Your right about longevity, but I trust it as a pulling motor not to be maxed out under the stress of a heavy load going up and down hills for 10-12 hours at a time at highway speeds.

I measured some dimensions on both of these images:

    CM SB.jpg

    CM LB.jpg

Granted, there's some error, MS Paint, trucks are at an angle... et etc. But assuming both trucks are the same cab lengths means the long bed photo is ~26%-27% bigger:

    Photo Scales.jpg

I'm assuming the current CM SB is the same as the new CM SB dimensions, just to give something that will scale to actual dimensions to estimate wheelbase, bed, and overall length. Wheelbase of 145.7 is probably most accurate. The bed length is estimated and I didn't really do a good job measuring overall dimensions.

    CM Scales.jpg

Obviously these are rough, but this is right in line with a 2021 Ford F-150 wheelbase: 145.4" SuperCrew 5.5' bed and 157.2" SuperCrew 6.5' bed.

My guess is that Toyota maintained a 6.5' bed and these dimensions are off a bit here and there. Maybe it got a tiny bit shorter, like Ram has a 6'4" bed. But, I wouldn't bet on any dimensions pulled from MSPaint...

Ya, that's probably smart. Crew Cab 6.5' bed and Double Cab 8' bed would probably be on the same frame if possible. Dimensions wise, it seems like it doesn't quite work. The current DC 8' is 164" wheelbase, and they only have two wheelbases - 145" and 164". So if the new generation does have an 8' bed on 164" wheelbase and a Crew Cab 6.5' on the same 164" wheelbase, that means the new Crew Cab Short Bed is actually longer than 145... probably more like 154?

After thinking about that, seems more likely that there are three wheelbase options, basically a 145, 155, and 164", maybe more. Ford F150s comes in 122.8, 141.5, 145.4, 157.2, and 164.1" wheelbases, so Toyota doing 3 sizes vs. Ford's 6 sizes doesn't seem crazy. Or they kill the double cab 8' bed, the certainly don't sell a lot compared to all the Crew Maxes I see.

Question is, will we see payload changes across frame sizes? If the new CM SB is similar GVWR of ~7200lb, it would be nice that a bigger bed would come with a higher GVWR, like +300lb on payload. If the hybrid option is actually real, I could see the batteries driving GVWR up, which may mean the non-hybrid models reap the benefits and have competitive payload with the American brands.

I was thinking if a guy was handy, he could buy 3 second gens (DCSB, DCLB and CM) and make his own CM SB.

I would say Davis Dam test, but is it gonna be hot enough down there? Needs to be like 100 F for it to be a valid test for the towing standards.

It's definitely not warm here this week, you can tell when it's below 75 in Phoenix because everyone has their jackets on.

Haha I love watching southerners when it gets warm out - I'm out here in 40 degree weather in a T-shirt and they're out there in 70 degree weather with a jacket. 70 degrees and I'm sweating just sitting there lol

I love my 2014 limited 4wd Tundra, it’s even better that it’s paid off. I’m happy to see Toyota finally making a change to the tundra and not just a refresh. But I’m not buying one, I’m happy with my paid off V8, I am looking forward to what Toyota has in the works that’s gonna replace the landcruiser which is now extinct for the US after 2021.

I think fuel mileage matters to a lot of people. If you are making payments, saving on fuel for another vehicle with the same loan payment would be a real benifit when the $$ is tight. Back when we were raising our kids, when $3 came, we went from a sedan to a SWB full size van. The increased gas and insurance about killed us. We traded for a used (off lease) minivan kept the payments the same, lowered insurance and fuel costs, and put $200 a month back in our pockets.

Kids are long grown and through college, my Tundra is paid off, I don't want gas to go to euro levels, but wouldn't push me to get something with better mileage if it happened. The truck is exactly what I want and is set up perfect. Plus, I normally ride a motorcycle to commute to work.

Military types seem to gravitate towards trucks, and I will occasionally swap with a buddy for an hour or two to compare the Tundra with their new Ram, or F150, of Sierra, etc. My best friend had an 2012 Sierra and hated how it drove compared to the Tundra (I have the TRD PRO), so when he bought a 2020 Sierra Denali he was anxious to finally have a truck that rode and performed better then my 'jap' truck. He was disappointed when he came back from his back to back comparison drive, and shifted the conversation to my ugly dated interior, his sweet styish one, all the cameras, special tailgate, auto running boards, and his cooled seats ;-) ;-)

IMO, the EPA fuel mileage is sheer BS, loaded and real world, things even out for the most part, especially with lifts, bigger tires, etc. I average 17, get 19-20 highway and 14-15 town on the stock Michelins. I'm sure that will drop when I change tires.

I just filled up my Lexus last night and paid basically $7.00 per us gallon.

The New 2022 Tundra better be getting really good gas mileage because
if it's a v6 twin turbo it's going to need premium fuel ( at least what I have been told) witch is $1.52 per litre here in Canada
that's 3.78 litres to on us gallon and the add the extange rate it's about $7.00

I would have to fork over $40g to trade up from my 2016 witch still like and looks like new so gas mileage wouldn't be my reason. This new tundra hopefully be all we are looking for that might give
me a justified reason to switch out.

No chance they’re making the standard engine in the line up take premium gas. That’d be a death wish when premium is $.50-$1 more per gallon than regular gas

Hope not..... the Lexus twin turbo takes premium fuel and being a rumour that's one of the new engines.

Well it can tuned for 87 octane easily if they wanted to. They might recommend 93 for maximum performance but you can still run on 87 octane just like the titan 5.6L
