Ok guys. I am getting ready to order my 2021 CrewMax 4 x 2 Tundra hopefully tomorrow and it has to come from the factory. I see the poor mileage paper stats but was wondering what the actual gas mileage might be around town and on the perfect highway run. Also any idea as to how long an ordered truck takes to get. Would buy something off the lot but there are no deals and very limited supply. Thanks

Far too many factors. Just drive it and don’t harp on the fuel. If fuel is a financial factor, then you chose the wrong vehicle. Or any truck for that matter.

Depending on the setup / mods, driver performance, expect anywhere between 10-18 mpg. I'm getting around 12.

I agree 100% with @Danman34. You know the ratings. The most important factor is how you drive. Last week I had a long trip and found that I got about 16.7 on fairly flat interstate with cruise set at 77 MPH. That is WAY better than I was getting with my old Titan.

Stop and go really kills the MPG on the Tundra. It's alot of weight to get moving.
    Highway mpg 16-17
    Around town 13-14.
It's surprising, my Tundra gets better highway mpg than my Tacoma, yet my Tacoma gets better around town MPG (20-22)

In all honesty I think the easiest way to do this is compare what you have gotten in other vehicles compared to their epa ratings. Seems like every vehicle I’ve personally owned I get around 2mpg less on highway and city driving than what the vehicle is rated at. This holds true for my tundra as well. Just did around a 400 miles round trip with 90% of the drive with cruise at 75mph on flat terrain and got 15.6mpg for that trip. Just me and a 60lb kid, 4x4 crewmax with no mods.

Just my 0.02 but the 3.5l engine in the Tacoma is junk. It was developed as as sedan engine and retrofitted to meet CAFE requirements. The engine is mediocre to satisfy the midsize consumer, but also create an incentive to by buy a Tundra if power is what the consumer is looking for. The supercharged 4.0L stopped alot of owners from jumping to a full size. The 3.5L owners don't have an option.

I traded in my 2020 Tacoma for my tundra. Tacoma was a 4x4 dbl cab long bed and I got around 15 city and around 19 hwy. that new Tacoma engine seems to be really sensitive to throttle input and speed. Driving my 10 miles in the morning to work at grandpa speed with cruise at 45mpg I would get around 22-23mpg. Doing the same 400 mile round trip that I got 15.6 in my tundra I got 17.3 in the Tacoma.

    I drive a 4x4 platinum (heavier) bone stock I would get 14-16mpg.
Adding TRD PRO suspension & 33’s I would get around 13mpg.

Just joined the Dirty Seven’s club, i also did 5.29 gears.
    I just hand calculated 9.7 mpg .

Depends on your town. I live outside town in the county (yes, county. Not country) and the towns are small. The speed limit on the main highways/roads between them are 55 MPH, and there aren't a bunch of lights or stop signs. In town the limits are 30-35 MPH. If the truck is warmed up for the day and I run into town for groceries, grab the mail, or some such then the computer reads 16-20 MPG at the end of the trip. That's just driving. If I decide I want to roll down the windows and hear that glorious Dirty Deeds exhaust then I get 13-16 MGP. I have after market skids, sliders, wheels, and slightly bigger tires than stock. I've done trips out of state, or across the state and I've seen everything from 10 MPG towing my SxS to 18 MPG when empty and I'm not fighting a major headwind.

How you drive is the biggest factor, but it's not like the Taco gets way better mileage anyway. Do this math. (Not actual numbers. Just ones picked for easy math) 15K miles a year at 15 MPG and $3 per gallon. Then do it with 18 MPG. Break that cost out over a year and your monthly fuel savings for a 3 MPG gain aren't exactly something that should be making or breaking your budget.

With winter gas around 12.5 mpg. I should see about 13.5 when gas goes to warm weather blend.

Get the 38 gallon tank. Its hurts the wallet more on the refill, but you don't have to do it as much.

    I've had my 2014 5.7 since December of 2014.
The combo meter reads either 13.9 or 14 MPG since them.
Maybe a little higher on a road trip, but not much..

I've got 275/60/20 KO2s and a heavy foot since I like to hear my BAM.
Never minded the MPG, even with gas prices going up..
    It's just part of owning a 5.7...

I replaced a ‘18 Tacoma with my ‘21 Tundra. For my driving and commute(little highway, lot of stop and go) and I get exactly 1.5mpg’s less on my average tank. Hand calculated.

I have no idea what the MPG is around town... I stop and refill the tank before it reaches 1/2 a tank and drive on until it's almost 1/2 empty again. I can usually top the tank off for $20.00
