What have you done to your 1st gen Tundra today?

Mod day is off to a great start thanks to the kiddos at Discount and their ugga-dugga guns. Can't drink all day if you don't start early.

 

I’ve had good and bad experiences with DT, but now I know which one to go to.

The Discount Tire I go to uses a Torque Wrench.

Today is wash and wax day. This truck has the most sensitive paint of any vehicle I've ever owned. Never seen paint that gets stained like this. It's 60 and overcast here today. Perfect day for it. Can't wait until I'm able to park in the garage again.

Any of y’all got experience with supreme suspensions? I’m thinking I’m just gonna play it safe and get longer studs for the fronts and the spacers

total chaos used Lexus is300 studs but they come in sets of 5. 4Runner dudes are using Toyota Matrix studs

 

DT is taking care of me. Gave me a new lug nut and a referral to get the stud replaced at no charge. We've always had positive experiences with this location and I'll go back there when I need to.

Back to the regularly scheduled wrenching.

 

All about the location for sure. Ive got my last 7 or 8 sets of tires from DT, never an issue.

Making progress. About to shoot some darkness approved high temp spray.

 

After 3 years of being a cheap SOB, I finally decided to add the fog light option.
Total cost $167. Fog assemblies $86, fog relay $15, fog switch $66.
She looks happy now, no more shame.

 

Got rear suspension mostly done. Also changed the rear brake line for a SS wheelers one. That was a PITA. So what's best way to bleed now? Looks like a nipple on the load sensing valve. Figure bleed there first then move to the drum cylinders.

Any input?

It is an art on our trucks. There is a bleeder on our LSPV though.

 

Rear pass, LSBPV, Rear Driver, Front Pass, and finally Front Driver.

 

There’s a DOT 5 now? I’m certainly behind. lol

I guess after that brake bleeding is no longer required. Good to know.

Its DOT5.1 not DOT5

They are very different and you can read about them elsewhere. The Bosch DOT5.1 is even a higher spec than the industry standard in 5.1.

The Auto-stoned people should have pointed that out to me the last time I went to buy brake fluid. I’ll check it out.

 

I made more light.

 

Got the power steering fluid flushed today. Like most on here, it was pretty nasty! If I get interest, I can create a “how to” tutorial with part numbers I used for hose, barb fittings, etc.

 

With all the work that I’m doing, I find myself constantly searching for topics that I’ve seen brought up a billion times but are buried somewhere in the 885 pages of this thread.

We really need to get better at adding things to the 1st gen info dump thread. Do we even have a moderator in 1st gen that we can call on to do that?

 

I would be happy to create the “how to” in the 1st gen info dump. I have no problem with that. I wasn’t planning on placing it in this one if I put it together. Just figured this gets the highest amount of viewers/traffic, so thought it was the best place to ask.

 

Oh yeah, I wasn’t griping at you for putting it in the wrong spot. More of just a general gripe at how much the search sucks.

Hey @empty_lord , was thing while I was driving home today. Do the DC steering wheels with audio controls just fit? If I found one, would my airbag fit? And how big of a task is it to wire up the audio control's? I have a after market headunit and I know crutchfield sells hook ups for steering wheel controls, so maybe it would make it easier?

Airbag+ controls. If you want blutooth controls they are easily added too. Find a 4runner black leather wheel and the controls will be more common

 

ah, so a 4th gen 4runners will fit also? Also now looking at it, Id need a airbag. I didnt see they are pretty different. Are the airbags just plug n play?
