If I do a 3”/2.5” would I need front or rear extended sway bar? Also if I do a hellwig front and rear sway bar or would I be fine without doing the extended sway bar?

I don't have any experience with a rear sway bar, but I ran my original Toyota links in the front after modding my suspension until they snapped. After that, I tried two different types from the auto parts store and they both snapped in under 500 miles (off-road use).

I switched to the links @Lil Steve posted and have not had an issue since. They're tough.

Yes on the front, and maybe on the rear, Hellwig rear sway bar has adjustable spots to help but Addeco rear, like I run, doesn't.

    Good luck!

@des2mtn gotcha thank you and I’ll prob do the hellwig front and rear sway bars with a extended sway bar link in front like @evilrb said and maybe the rear leveled sway bar link that @Lil Steve brought up

I’m running a 2.5”/2.75” coil lift and run the OEM style links. No issues and perfect alignment. Admittedly, I haven’t really taken it off-road but have done some pretty gnarly ROW’s, lease roads and land behind landfills with no issues.

Overland custom designs has some beefy links for our truck out also. They got heim joint option and a sealed ball joint. I just purchased a set of the ball joint style.m

dude building them is on all the Toyota forums also

What sway bar links did you end up going with? How have they held up since this post from 2021?
Im looking at the SRQ Heim joint ones (but they $190) or the SupensionMaxx ones for $129. Thanks!

Bluetooth ones. Ran the SuspensionMaxx for a bit and did not have issues like I did with the parts store ones and liked them. I ended up pulling the sway bar entirely and prefer it that way.

I thought about that too. Do you have any issue when going 60-70 on the freeway? I usually drive like a grandma on the freeway. Just wondering what the pros v cons would be. Thanks.

You definitely gotta be careful and mindful when on the freeway, I dodged a mattress on the freeway doing 65, a lot of body roll but it was manageable

A little bit, a cop was behind me and didn’t pull me over nor stop to remove the mattress from the fast lane

I definitely drive like a Grandma on the freeways too, but usually can avoid the SoCal potholes and other debris without it feeling like the truck is totally loosing control, but definitely recommend two hands. I'm sure the body roll looks excessive to the people that are following me. Mountain driving is definitely way more involved, but I think that's influenced a lot by my shocks. Overall, no sway bar forces me to pay a little bit more attention but I usually feel really in tune with my truck when I drive.

I deleted my swaybar as well. In fact i went one set further and torched all the swaybar mounting brackets off both my frame and lower control arms. I drive fairly conservatively in the truck and don’t have any swaying that i find concerning. I have much bigger and taller 4x4s that don’t have any swaybars either. My barless tundra has way less sway than those vehicles. I suppose it all comes down to perspective on what a lot of sway is.

The overwhelming majority has taken it off. I guess that the bigger tires (mine are 285x70x17) and bigger shocks give the truck more stability than a standard truck with highway tires? If my options are taking off the bar for free, or spending $150-$200 bucks on longer links, I might as well go the free-way.

As side topic, what is best 24F battery? Optima seems like a popular choice, but I'm sure there are cheaper ones that are just as good, right? I like the CCA to be in the 700's. Any suggestions out there? Thanks.

I actually have my doubts that, with my AC at least, not having a sway at to limit travel is what’s allowing me to run if I’m turning and actively in compression (hitting a bump). And I’m wondering if this is why @FirstGenVol and a couple other AC truck owners with 32.5” - 33” tires who still have their sway at intact don’t run as much.

I'm pretty sure I don't rub much because of my SCS wheels and my SPC uppers. I already removed my sway bar.
