Ive swapped body mounts on a 69 Grandrix way way way back in the day, and if you do one on one side they all get done on that side.
One corner gets jacked up and then you just might get door gaps off and those my friend will leap out at you.
Anyway I hope we got to the bottom of it...

For sure. But if both are done then my bumper needs to be realigned. lol. It could be a never ending saga.

I have a 4 ft level and it says my bed is level. My bed side to side is 1 5/8 from the bumper.
Im positive we have a cab problem.

dropped off the truck today, service manager saw it easily, they dont do in house work like this, so it will be sent to their partner body shop, they then figure out what the cause is, and what the fix will be, and then submit it to Toyota for approval, so... we will see what/when etc. they gave me a loaner and said it could be a week or 2.

    Not sure at this point.
Well said. The more you obsess with those niches, the more you'll find out.

Eventually, you're going to look into your headliner and find out that they didn't make straight cuts to the headliner.

Not meaning to knock on the OP, but hope you get it fixed.

I will stop by my dealer next Monday and see what they say...
perhaps they have dealt with this issue before?

I think you are wrong... You have to ask why is it only a few Tundras have this issue and that they appear to be identical?
The other guy with this issue has a brand new truck. He deserves an explanation.
You may not realize it but quality control is a big deal these days.
It needs to be looked at and adequately explained and or fixed.
If I had seen this mis alignment when it was in the lot, I might of just walked away believing it had been in a wreck.
Or if I had asked the dealership to explain it and lets say they couldn't. Walked away.

Some of you guys take these 1/4" differences or less, quite serious.

Hopefully the dealerships can ease your minds and/or fix them for you.

well, heard back from the auto body shop, everything lines up great all around the truck, except there. it is being sent back now to the Toyota dealer, and they will likely call me today/tomorrow, but looking like the explanation is "it is within spec"... they said if I pushed hard enough they could certainly start trying to chase the alignment from a left to right perspective all the way around the truck, but that they would not be playing with shims to solve the problem (which I appreciate). I dont think I want them loosening every single factory bolt from frame to bumpers and cab and bed, just to try and chase the problem in hopes that the minor tweaks would eventually solve it...

they confirmed everything was in good shape, no Frame damage, missing bushings, etc.

so, looks like I just have to live with it, its off 1/4 inch in the drivers side corner near the cab, see photos as it is the same as OP and subsequent posters had said. I will wait to hear back from the dealer - maybe they can offer a little accessory or something of the like being that it is not fixable and as the advisor stated from the body shop - it may have just been welded a little off, causing the difference.

will report back if the dealer says anything different, but as was mentioned before - its a truck, and nothing in life is perfect. lol. if you hear anything else from your dealer, or they have some sort of solution that mine doesn't know about, please let me know!

Shoot we got a thread in here that goes on for pages and pages about a leaky valve cover. And how shameful it is Toyota allowed such a crime to occur and wont pay up to fix it.....LOL

This is not a "bed" issue its a cab issue on just one side.

I’m not sure. The bracket that holds the bed to the truck?! I’m not the engineer! Haha. That’s just what they deduced as the possible reason for it being that everything else looked right.

Reminds me of my coworkers GMC AT4 which he is working on a buy-back. His bed is off over 1/2" left to right, doors rub with removed paint, and a host of other issues such as windows do not roll down all the way, water leaks, cameras not working, engine noise, etc.

That’s helpful perspective. lol. NONE of those issues other than the cosmetic look of it being off by 1/4 inch.

I took a 4 ft level to my bed and its level side to side. You should check yours.

I dont think I can trust the 4 foot level for mine, so many variables - like gas tank weight, tire pressure psi, and finding a truly level surface (I dont think even my garage pad would qualify)

Toyota dealer got back to me... they asked me to open a case with Toyota Canada, which I did, and Toyota Canada is saying "why are you opening this case, your dealer should be..."

so I am in a fun little dance now, they gave me the truck back, I didn't sign the paperwork as it said "within spec", and the Toyota rep said they would deal with the dealership once the dealership calls them... not full of optimism that this will happen,

regardless, I have come to the point in this where the amount of energy I have to give, and want to give, is about up, and will most likely just ignore it... but if Toyota has some option to make something happen, I will take it... so, in limbo, but at least have my truck back now!

Just remove the bed bolts and put a nylon shim on the driver's side between the bed and frame.

Drivers side bed is too high. Not too low. So shimming won’t help it. Shimming the other side just puts it then out of alignment with the cab.

Just as an update. Brought the truck instead to my local Toyota dealer. They agree it’s an issue and have given it a thorough look and opened a new case with Toyota Canada. They are fairly certain it is a cab issue- torqued down too tight on that corner. So fingers crossed they get a response from Toyota. They literally have Toyota on the line while they are taking the measurements needed.

    hopeful a solution will come!

Have you seen the miss-aligned rear axle? All Tundras have the rear axle offset from center. Dealer won't be able to explain it; and you will have to live with it. Like others have said, it's a truck, that's what the tolerances are, whether we like it or not.

My local Toyota dealer has worked with Toyota to determine definitely not in spec and not right.

they are taking it in. Removing the bed and checking the alignment clips between the box and the cab, and then will work with the cab mounts to get it done right.

thankful to be getting this fixed. OP you should keep up with your dealer. They said the Toyota body shop had already done a few tundras for the same reason.

I'll say something about it to the dealer whenever I bring it in for it's first 5000 mile service. I'm just glad to know that it's just not mine that had the problem.

Im curious as too what you found out? I stopped by my dealer a few days back and just out of curiosity found every used Tundra in the lot has the same issue.
Its bizarre just that one side and body line and gap thats off.

Ironically, still ongoing. my service manager here is relentless and wants a solution for me,

has been to their body shop, measurements taken, and sent to Toyota Canada. they are saying they want it in again (Toyota Canada) to take more measurements - which might entail removing the box to get them... im not super keen there.

she told me they may try to replace the box entirely with a new one, I told her I was not excited about that, as Silver Sky Metallic (if factory painted) won't be a guarantee match, and having a body shop paint a primered one means I lose factory paint... she agrees, so not sure where it is going to go to be honest.

I said if they are going to go that far, they might as well find me a new replacement truck, she also is on the same page...

my assumption, if I had to bet today, would be that Toyota will say the fix out weighs the problem, and we might negotiate something else (extended warranty or the likes) but we will see. supposed to get a call today from them.

same here but my gap on the drive-side side looks like the bed is other towards the passenger side about 1". I don't think the bed has alignment options as far as the bed goes. The 6 bolts that secure it to the frame or just big enough for the bolt itself. So no wiggle room to side the bed from left to right. Standing behind the truck u can see the bid where it meets the cab is leaning towards the passenger side. So the cab protrudes out more than the bed.

The bed alignment on my truck is one thing that has always drove me crazy. I was assured by my dealer it was normal for a Tundra. Being as I purchased during the pandemic there wasn't another Tundra to compare to but I have always felt this was odd looking. Why is the bed not the same size as the cab??

I had a 2001 F150 Supercrew and the rear windows were designed to not go all the way down. The only time I sat back there was when I hunted a big ranch and it was all driving around. I was not liking resting my gun on the glass. Not sure what they were thinking with that piece of engineering.
