They don't have them from Toyota at least. Just like there are 70 series here in the states now, there are Tundra's in Australia.

Tell me more about these 70 series in the states.

 

Just to clarify this, Dobinsons is sending you a new set of IMS with 778 coils already installed with top mounts at the clip height you requested, so that the full strut assembly can be swapped out and the old set shipped back so they can see what was wrong with the coils you had. My bet is they were simply the wrong coils, probably the 3" heavy load coils instead of the stock weight coils. Either they have the wrong label on them, which you can't see when they're installed, or they were picked and shipped wrong from the start, since they were also the wrong color.

Here's a photo of the 780's when they were first developed for a customer here in the US with no front weight, measuring just under 25" once settled fully.

 

American's want the 70 series, Australians want the Tundra. Hahah

I was alluding to a Tundra in Australia being an import.

 

did you change the UCA? if the UCA is too extended it will limit down travel like crazy

You can see a uniball joint here, so not OEM.

 

I'm running a stock UCA. The UCA is not limiting anything right now. It has plenty of articulation left. I also checked to see if the UCA is coming into contact with the coil at full droop and it's not. The shock is 100% limiting the down travel.

 

Stock UCA shouldn't contact the coils because the ball joint binds before that amount of droop. Only way to know if it is or isn't limiting the shock travel would be to detach the UCA and see if it droops any further. Based off what I've read about Fox, King and Icons it appears that the OE UCA does become a limiting factor and to get the additional ~.5" of stroke out of the shock an aftermarket UCA would be required.

 

If I pull out the lower shock bolt the suspension will continue to droop until the UCA is resting on the coils

 

Interesting, perhaps they don't have as much stroke as advertised. They're listed at 6.7", which would be the same the extended travel Fox or Kings. Even Fox claims the OE UCA would limit this travel, hence aftermarket is needed. Im going to assume that since theyre IFP that they dont have as much as listed then, considering the floating piston is inside the shock itself, unlike the extended travel RR options.

 

The stroke may be the same as King, Fox etc but the extended and compressed measurements also play a key role along with mounting

 

For total lift yes, if the shock body were in total longer or shorter it would affect the amount of lift the truck would receive. However, the delta between compressed and extended = total stroke.

 

That's possible. That's all well and fine, but my point is still true that I have to pay for another swap out and install, and alignment again, not to mention the hassle of dealing with this for two weeks.

I appreciate what Dobinsons is doing, but I'm out money on this deal. The Dobinson's employees are a pleasure to deal with though.

 

You have a 2019 Tundra Crewmax Limited if you are out of money your priorates are wrong, probably should have bought something less expensive.

 

Being out money, and out of money are two separate things.

Being out money means paying more than you expected.

Update on IMS with 610's. Settled down to 24.5" now center of hub to fender. Damn near equal side to side with passenger side on lowest clip and driver on the second clip. Haven't driven much over 100 miles yet with the lift and winch has only been on for maybe 20 of those miles. I'm currently close to 2.7" lift, hoping to settle down to around 2.25", from the way things are progressing looks like I'll get there. Love the ride! Especially after I bolted the winch up, feels perfect. JBA uca helped me get a great alignment with 3ish degrees of caster. Driving really nice.

 

@TundraLaw Priorates. Same same but different.

 

How much would you say the ride improved compared to the stock springs and shocks? i would love to get a better ride and less Jittery vibration over small imperfection in the road. Tundra have a brutal ride.

 

How much better would you say the ride is with these coils and shocks? 20% 50%?? My ride is super rough and jittery with my stock shocks.

 

The ride is better off road and when you’re going fast and cornering on road. Ride quality is stiffer and more bumpy really from a non-enthusiast standpoint so you’d probably think it was more jittery and brutal. To me it now rides like a truck is supposed to... They setup tundras pretty soft from the factory. This setup gets you more control not smoother except in high speed bumps and off roading. I also have the stiffer springs front and rear. They make other springs with softer rates. Just do your due diligence researching because a lot of folks have gotten too much lift from their other springs.

 

So you hit a speed bump, train tracks, or a rough turn over 30mph and you smile. But on a straight daily driving road you feel every bump. Not sure how long you’ve had your tundra but you get used to the truck ride. Also my 3 yo loves the bumps. It’s a game to her and when we go in another vehicle she thinks something is wrong because no bumps

 

I’m driving my Dad’s LC right now and it feels like a floaty boat relatively though the RSCA compensates for the corner lean pretty well.

 

I agree the ride seem to be smoother when your killing it on a country road, but in the city it is brutal. So strange. Thanks.

Yep. It absolutely is. Rear is still stock leafs with 158k miles on them and 500lbs in the bed. Working on the rear next.

Rides just right imo with my ~500lbs constant load. Sits a touch higher than I expected, will probably settle a tad, haven't measured anything yet, but I like it. I outsourced the install, but am happy to answer any questions if anyone is considering this kit.

My favorite aspect on the road so far is markably reduced pitch in corning compared to the stock suspension. As others have described I can sense small bumps more, but its not harsh, I actually prefer it to the spongy soft stock feel.

Planning to put this truck in action off the pavement this spring as a hunter/horseman. Will update. Also I have a Leitner Forged/ Decked combo in the bed I'll post about it that thread.
