I keep all of the sprayers from my used up Griots products for this reason....flush them out with distilled water and then put a label on them what they came from....only reuse them with similar products

For your other question...I prefer a fine mist with any SIO2 product

To be a little more helpful about sprayers.

I have ordered CarPro and griots bottles and griots are better IMO the sprayers hold up longer I have had many CarPro sprayers fail and it’s frustrating especially if you don’t have backups which I try and keep. I also like the adjustment on the griots it keeps it simple where as CarPro is a rotary knob and you lose your perfect spray position. With that being said for all APC and degreaser products and tire cleaner I use

    https://www.detailedimage.com/Kwazar-M77/Mercury-Pro-300-Sprayer-P1012/500-ml-S1/

these bottles are great for products you use a lot of. ****Not recommend for sealants

Just bought a G8 and some 2 and 3 inch buff and shine Uro-Fiber pads. Hopefully the G8 works as good as the G9. I needed something smaller to get after my motorcycles fairings so I don't hit the decals.

You will like the G8....a lot more power than their first generation 3 inch polisher...love the Uro-fiber pads too...super versatile

Sorry for the question due to me looking around, but not going back through all these pages. but I was using Maguires detailing soap. And my truck always looks like shit. Dirt still present. No foam or suds with this soap. I used dawn this time and it’s the cleanest my truck as ever been. What soap is recommended, I just want stuff I can mix in a bucket of water and sponge on.

So dawn will get the truck real clean but it will also strip any amount of protection you might have on the vehicle. I recommend getting some kind of sealant on the paint ASAP. As for a soap I only use CarPro reset but you need to order online. Griots or chemical guys can be had at a auto parts store and they will do the trick. Meguires gold class is much better then the pink stuff they sell also.

Yeah, first time I’ve ever used dawn..but needed to make sure I’m not crazy...as for sealant. I will have to look into what to use there too. I usually use beadmaker and wax 1-2 times a year. I’m out on dirt roads so much I just like to keep her clean if possible

Wax will fail typically after a month or so depending on environment so 1-2 times a year is not enough to truly protect the truck. Griots ceramic 3-1 is great but you need to follow the instructions and don’t use to much. There are many great products out there so if you have a question just ask.

Not sure which Meguair’s soap you are using, but Gold Class is pretty good and better than most you’ll find in retail. I’d also recommend Griots brand, which can be found at most auto parts stores. Like @Swfltoyomafia said, Carpro Reset is the best in my opinion. You just have to order it.

Another really good option is Jay Leno’s Garage soap. I believe Auto Zone or Advanced Auto carries it. I’ve used it, and it’s pretty effective. Surprisingly, the Jay Leno line is actually pretty solid.

Beadmaker is very good at repelling water / mud. Does as well or better than anything, but doesn’t last as long as others. It kind of bridges the gap between sealant and wax, with the strengths and weaknesses of both. If you like it, I’d just recommend applying it more frequently. More like every couple of months. Even the best sealants aren’t going to hold up for six months under anything but ideal conditions.
Griots 3-in-1 lasts a really long time compared to its competitors, and can be found in auto parts stores.

Has anyone ever dealt with stains on their paint?

My 02 develops stains that I can sometimes remove with hand washing but other times have to actually wax off. Never owned a vehicle like this. I'm wondering if it's because of age and because they did a single stage paint job?

Even Griots 3 in 1 application hasn't stopped the stains from appearing.

What are you applying to the black on your truck? Looks like run off from that which I used to deal with before I switched to cerakote trim or dlux

I don't put anything on there. It was plasti-dipped a few years ago. You can see it peeling there. That's not the only place I get stains though. It runs down from the bed rails too.

Also, the hood gets stains on it from who knows what. It's just odd.

That is not being caused from the paint. Something in or on you mirror or how it attaches to the truck is degrading and this the residue of water runoff of the degrading component.

You will like the Jay Leno vehicle wash....if you have a Pep Boys nearby.....it can usually be had for 6.00/16oz bottle...which is a really good price. You order it online and pick up in the store

Are the bed rails black? It is run off from your black surfaces. It really shows up well on white but is very common. I had it on my 2018 and now that I coated those surfaces it’s not a big issues.

I tried looking though the thread but haven't found a master list of products everyone recommends. Is there a full list of products I should keep for everything from cleaning and sealing the paint to plastic trim and leather care? My 4runner has been through so much shit over the years that I haven't really cared about the paint but my tundra won't be offroad as much and I'd love to start taking care and cleaning it as properly as I can.

I made this list about a year and a half ago. It consisted of my go to products at the time. As we all know, our favorites tend to change over time. It was just my own personal list, based on only my opinions, so definitely not gospel. (At a quick glance, there’s a few things I’d probably change on there.)
It would be nice to get a more definitive list from several of us. We all have different products we prefer, and maybe only a handful we actually agree on. There’s a ton of good ways to achieve good results.

    https://www.tundras.com/threads/ask-the-detailer.18408/page-54#post-1480545

I know we discussed putting something together a long time ago and having it pinned. We should probably revisit that idea.
