Any good install videos or instructions on how to install this unit? I have the maestro flashed I am just looking for clear instructions to get it installed on the Tundra. I have the dash trim kit, maestro extras and all the wiring.

Doesn't really talk about all the connections but it helps. Thanks for the video.

After you flash your module, idata gives you the instructions to your vehicle. You connect it per the instructions. That's pretty much it.

Once you connect the units wiring harness to the maestro harness, everything is just plug and play. Each plug only fits it’s corresponding plug.

I bought a audio package from tech12volts. Do any wires from the amp need to run to the head unit? If so, I suppose I can do the amp install first that way i'm not pulling the radio out twice.

You’ll need to run RCAs from the new HU to the amp so I would do the HU first if I was you. You can just run the RCAs to under the passenger seat for now.

If you got the underseat harness adapters from Tech12volts he has a remote wire you can use on that harness.

Ive found using the remote turn on from a quality headunit reduces damn near all of the amp turn on noise you get by using the stock wiring.

that’s good. I replaced everything though. If I’m Spending the time and money to replace everything, I’m not going to use the factory stuff for anything. When I put everything in, in the case something goes wrong or malfunctions, I rather know exactly where everything is and how it’s ran. Allows for much better troubleshooting.

Nothing wrong with going all out. The only thing I kept OEM was the speaker wiring.

I'm assuming that's what the blue wire is for in the kit.

Is it okay to have the remote turn on wire near the RCA's? I started to make a harness but I just thought of the fact that it may cause interference.

That’s fine. It’s just a signal turn on wire. You just don’t want power wires that are connected directly to the battery ran with the rcas. That’s where the interference can come from.

What did you all use for instructions to wire the head unit using the maestro harness?

The diagram is in the link in post #5. Brand specific wire colors are on the page after the diagram.

If I'm running an aftermarket amp do I need to connect the LR and RR speaker inputs or the RCA inputs if the RCAs will run from the amp to the head unit?

You do NOT need to connect the rear speaker wires on the harness for the reason you stated - the RCAs will provide your rear speaker signal via the amp.

What about the mic or gps? Is it okay to use the factory? The kenwood says to use theirs but if the factory works fine then I don't want to mess with it.

GPS I used the factory connection. You can use the provided GPS antenna but you would need to secure it in a way that it has a view of the sky.

Mic you don’t have a choice. You have to use the mic provided - OEM mic won’t work. Run the mic to the drivers side a pillar then up and over to the overhead console mic location. Drop the console, pull OEM mic and install aftermarket.

Are these required? One hooks to the obdII and the other harnesses are for the back up camera. I'm assuming they are not required.
