CAN'T FIGURE IT OUT but its probably simple - blinker

Looking for some advice here, having issues with my blinkers.

It started with a Zoolander issue - I couldn't turn left - without the front blinker not working. It blinks fast but would occasionally return to normal and even work. I replaced the bulb, noticing a bit of discoloration on the plug (but both sides have it, and at the time the right was working so I assumed it was normal). It began to work just fine for a few minutes, then returned to the fast blink.

Now both sides don't work in the front at all, DRL's also off. Hazards don't hyper-blink, but don't work in the front either. I pulled the battery out and looked at all of the wiring, doesn't seem to be any issues and headlights are fine (evidence of a pinche raton so I thought wire might be chewed but doesn't appear so).

Next step is to check fuses (I've already checked the one in the engine compartment) and check them all as I read on another blinker post that it could be a safety measure.

People turning without using their blinker is my pet peeve, and I have a lot of built up anger occurring because I can't get mad and yell at them if my signals don't work either.

Any suggestions????

 

Flasher relay maybe? It's in a little black box on the kick panel on the driver's side. You'll have to unplug the connector, unbolt the box and take it out. There's two little clips on the cover that let you pull out the relay.

Image attached below. The two metal hoops are the resistors for the blinkers. I would look for corrosion or water damage or something. Should be obvious and maybe all you need to do is replace the module. You can get one for about $60 that will stop all clicking and fix led resistance problems.

Make sure both bulbs are seated all the way down... common issue when bulbs are improperly seated is hyper flash and DRLs are off.. before going deeper push them all the way in first... its free.

 

Did you have led’s or the stock bulbs? If led’s they’re known to cause hyper flash. There was also a recall for certain years on the front blinkers......maybe check the recall website and see if you qualified

The bad one was also insanely tough to remove now that I think about it?

Those bulb sockets do go bad due to the heat of those bulbs. On my 2013, the contact actually rusted out causing the bulb to not work obviously. Those sockets are about $10 each at the dealer. I put in new sockets and Vled Tritons and I was good to go. Makes sure the contacts are good and the bulbs are seated as mentioned. The recall mentioned was just for dimness.

 

Usually, when you drive they'll start to jiggle like bitties and you will get random DRL on off like its winking at you, along with hyper flash... once snapped in place then its good to go.

 

Thanks everyone, I pushed them in really hard and that did the trick. I think the original actually burned out and then when I replaced them both I just didn't push it in hard enough. Appreciate the help
