Yes, I see the file and it imports.

I spent an hour or two yesterday making my own gauges, so I'm good now.

 

having trouble making the display

gauge does not display....

Has anyone had success getting individual TPMS readings to display?
I am using an OBDlinkMX+ and the OBDLink app which is pretty much the same as Torque that I can tell.
I have not had too much time to fool with it but I am finding the PIDs and their descriptions a little more complicated than with my Expedition. Also a lot more redundant as there are some PIDs that are all labeled the same but in some instances 4 or 5 different choices.

I tried doing the same steps that folks did on the 4Runner forum but instead of giving me the actual pressure it seemed to give me what the TPMS threshold was set at.

Well that's a strange problem. So the gauge never shows up on dashboard or just doesn't read the temp? Is the dashboard page you are trying to add to have space for the gauge, maybe try it on a blank dashboard page.

I have been able to edit two of the "default" gauges to A/T 1 and A/T 2

appears to work..... still playing with it....but cant make new ones

 

Need to follow these steps provided.


Here's the confirmed process for exporting dashboards (sharing).

1. Setup a free Dropbox account, or use one you already have
2. Configure your Dropbox credentials in OBD Fusion. Do this in Settings | Preferences | Dropbox/iCloud.
3. This will create a folder series in your root of Dropbox called Apps/OBD Fusion/... there are three folders there; CSVLogs, Import, Export. They should be pretty explanatory.
4. If you want to export a dashboard, go to Settings | Menu (in the top right) and choose 'Export Settings'. Then choose Dropbox and go back one menu by choosing'Settings' at the top. This is not totally intuitive, but it will open another dialog box with a series of switches. Turn off all switches except Dashboards. Select 'Back'. This is the semi-intuitive part. You'll get amessage box indicating theexport was successful. And,it'll show you the path to yourexport.

If you want to use a sharedDashboard,you'll need to acquirethe file fromsomeone and manually put it in yourDropbox folders. If youwant to share aDashboard, you'llneed to export it andmake itavailable to others.

 

I played with the tpms a bit this morning using my mx and obdfusion. I was able to pull tire temp and pressure without issue. It did take awhile to perform the initial scan of available pids, but options left seem to work.

 

How do you do a scan of the available PIDs?
All I get is the full list of PIDs regardless if they are available or not.

 

When i connected to the enhanced network that contained the tire pressure monitors it scanned it automatically since it was first time i connected to that particular network. Might be a setting somewhere that i checked long ago that caused that, hard to say.

 

Interesting I have to peek around the settings. Mine connects and just gives me a laundry list of PIDs with many of them not working for the Tundra and many of them listed multiple times while some choices will give actual values and others with the same name will not give any values.
No scan is done to weed out the non working PIDs.

 

Keep in mind I am using the Obdfusion app and not the Obdlink app. I have the obdlink app but didnt buy the toyota pack for it since the obdfusion app is more adapter universal. I do use the OBDLink app to update my mx firmware from time to time though. I do not know if there are any differences between how the 2 apps work in the background.

 

Makes sense. I am using the OBDLink app because I have the MX+ adapter which includes all the upgrade/premium packs.
If I use another app I have to pay for the upgrades.
I am not much of a computer guy and never really get more than 30 minutes at a time to sit down and fool with it. So likely all user error.

 

What’s the difference between veepeak BLE and the BLE+?

Appears to be based on ELM version it can read... 1.4 vs 2.2. I happened to get the BLE. Wondering if worth sending back and getting the plus... Right now I don’t see why it’s worth the hassle for me. I looked at ELMs version description and saw mention to AT in the 2.2 but not sure that meant auto trans... I mainly want to monitor trans and current BLE seems fine. Am I missing something?

Update. Got what I wanted working fine w just the BLE. So just gonna roll w it. For $8 more I would have got the plus just to have I guess. Just FYI for anyone looking.

 

Got to fool around with it a bit more today. I fully updated my tablet, app, and firmware to the OBDLinkMX+
After doing all this and reconnecting it then scanned for specific PIDs. Cutting down my options substantially in the TPMS category.
I reloaded the TPMS displays with the scanned PIDs and finally got a TPMS to display but they appear to be reading 15psi high. This is for both the reading and the low threshold setting.
The tire temp appears to be correct as it read 39* and it was about 37* outside.

Is there some way these need to be calibrated for proper reading?

 

Maybe try letting the app connect and run for a bit to see if it adjusts. I remeber seeing some weird reading, like 65 psi. After 10mins or so it seemed to adjust and displayed correctly. Other than that I am not aware of any way to calibrate the app based pid.

I can’t figure out which PID to select for engine oil temp...coolant yes, but not engine oil temp. Is this not available for gen 2? I have an 08.

 

Your tips and guidance are awesome...thank you. How do you get the lock up status and gear in the same gauge when they’re two separate PIDs?

Doh! Thanks...I saw that comment but misinterpreted what it meant.

 

Here’s my current layout. I’d love to add some fuel economy displays, like current mpg, gallons remaining, or current tank mpg. Has anyone found these PIDs? I’ve looked at every Toyota PID and nothing looks right.

 

I added the ATF Thermal Degradation to my display. Do you know what the value represents (mileage, time, etc.)? My reading is only 115 and I have 20k miles on the truck.

 

I am not sure how it is calculated but i recall reading somewhere that around 45000 it is considered degraded or something. I glance at it once and awhile just to see where it is at but plan on changing my fluid at 60k miles regardless.

Total noob question everyone. I bought Veepeak and have successfully connected to OBD Fusion (iPhone 12). However, when I selected user PIDs I get a blank screen in the app. Do I need to make a selection from the items that pop up when I select “menu”? Looking to monitor transmission temps for evaluating a future transmission cooler.

 

User defined PID are custom equations that you input. In my screenshot you can see I have two for pan and torque but you can find the trans temps in the purchase add on for Toyota, Lexus, Scion. I think it was around $5 and well worth it.

 

Thanks, I’ll look into the purchased PIDs. I was trying to enter the user defined ones outlined from the transmission cooler thread which led me here.

 

I purchased the Toyota PIDs. I see three that I think are the transmission temp; A/T Oil Temperature 1, 2, and 3. Is there are correct one to use to monitor trans temps during towing? Also, see one called Torque Converter Temperature Raise History. Is that the correct one to use for monitoring the torque converter temp?

 

AT2 is the converter temp. AT1 is the pan temp.
