Was thinking it would be nice to be able to access the cab of the truck from inside of the topper if needed and was wondering if anyone has thought of a way to roll down the rear glass remotely when the truck is off? I have a couple ideas but figured I can't be the first person to ask the question :)

You’re the first person I’ve seen ask. Maybe splice in another switch and run it to the bed. I don’t think the rear window has any auto up down unless there is a kit I haven’t seen.

Yeah I was thinking of running another switch as one option but that requires ignition power. I guess I could just hit the remote start first and then have a switch in the back. I was also thinking a more complex way would be a relay to activate 12v+ power to the motor and 2 other relays for up/down that way the truck itself doesn't need to be running. Might have to explore this when it's warmer out and find out where the motor/wiring is back behind the seat.

I'd run a separate circuit to the bed with a contactor.

That way when you turn off the ignition the contactor switches on your bed switch.

No chance of smoking your rear window motor.

Contactor is powered by the ignition circuit.

    My 1¢ advise...

Isn't there a remote that you can use to roll down windows without being inside the truck?

Not sure if there's something aftermarket but the key fob doesn't seem to roll any windows down. You can roll them down from the keyhole outside but that isn't a good solution and seems to only roll down the 2 front windows and sunroof. I know 12 volt solutions makes a relocation harness for the switch so I reached out to them to see if they could make a Y adapter so I can keep the factory switch and extend the wiring to the bed. After that i'll just need to figure out how to supply power to the motor when the truck is off but there are ways to do that.

Factory or aftermarket remote start? If aftermarket add window modules that can roll up or down your windows, each module controls 2 windows ( your rear glass is just another window, you will need 3 to control all 5 windows plus your moonroof )

If factory, you can add the module(s) but it might not be able to be seperately controlled like an aftermarket fob can.

Train a small monkey to press the switch on command, then take him with you on all trips and leave him in the cab. Boom, problem solved.

Haha now there’s an option! No monkeys around here but I do have a 10 year old kid
