So if the existing stations can’t be remodeled or upgraded... I guess they will turn into leaky messes. Seems smart.

I’ve asked a couple Tesla owners who were towing rpods what their range is... they said about 100 miles. :monocle::confused::ballchain:

I m confident that I will be driving my Tundra until some unlucky sole has to pry my cold dead hands from the steering wheel. But this is a money making scheme in the making, because folks will no doubt be paying more and more for gas and eventually not be able to find it anymore. And those who still have gas will either horde it or charge mega for it. Who would have thunk that mad max had it right this whole time?

This is awesome. I can't wait to see what their citizens have to say five or ten years from now. Or how many citizens still live there in five to ten years for that matter.

Hehehe. Some folks are overly sensitive these days. Comments like "hard to think when you re rapping" may be racist to some as well. But seriously; math is the backbone of society. Those who think it s racist is just plain stupid. No way around it.

You guys sound like a bunch of lunatics. I can’t access the article, but banning new gas stations in a residential area is not that nutty. Gas stations have allowed spill and leak rates. Would you want to live next to one? The VOCs that evaporate are known to cause cancer. So locate the gas stations in industrial or commercial areas with setbacks from residential areas.

Also, have you driven an electric vehicle? They rip. They are still in the early stages of development and adoption. You all would have been ragging on the model T. “Where am I supposed to hitch it outside the bar???” “Damn cars are always taking up my horse lane, driving too fast”.

I like my Tundra, but in a few years when a faster, longer range, quieter electric vehicle is available, I will buy it. And to the guy that thinks there is no way to get rid of batteries and solar panels, where are you getting this information? Lithium batteries are recyclable, and infrastructure is being built to do just that. Solar panels are recyclable as well. As they are more widely adopted, this infrastructure will become more available and cheaper.

    Hehehe. I resemble that remark...
There is a small amount of logic concerning keeping the mom and pop stations in business, (though I get my petrol from costco:rolleyes:), but ultimately it s a fail, because that only applies to the mom and pop businesses that already exist. Most cities just get larger over time. As long as cars are on the road the demand/more demand will be there. IMO it just a way to force folks to abide by an agenda.

Show me legitimate proof of the safe disposal of lithium batteries and solar panels, not some bullshit you regurgitate from MSM.
While you’re at it, show legitimate proof of the safe mining of lithium. Don’t forget the massive destruction to land and all the poisoned kids/people from the mining of it.

I think everyone that can't afford to buy an EV in CAca will be given one at the expense of taxing the middle class who really won't be able to afford one. They'll be the ones forced to ride bikes!

My company owns the largest EV fleet in the state of Utah. We also have the largest EV charging station. It's largely solar powered. My company is nutty about renewable energies. EV vehicles do create a ton of toxic waste that we have no way to really dispose of. It looks nice because no emissions, but all of that pollution is still happening upstream from the consumer. This is just fact.

Yeah, I've driven lots of EV vehicles. Yes, they do "rip" and are tons of fun to drive.

Of course, California. This is the sort of thing that drove me to leave 6 years ago.

That being said, I think electric is the way of the future. As much as I love gas powered, internal combustion engines, it’s ancient tech.

Electric and alternative fuels are the way of the future and they will continue to get better. BUT, making that sort of mandate now just makes it harder for people with lower incomes. Electric cars are too expensive for those who can only afford entry level vehicles. Electric will get cheaper, hopefully sooner than later.

For me? Give a nuclear powered Tundra that’ll run for years without “refueling”. I promise I won’t get in an accident...lol.

FWIW, the powers that be that run Petaluma can so whatever they want. My issue is making current gas station owners realize that they are doomed. No one wants a high traffic gas station next to a school.

    OMG. This ^^^ lol.
Way back in the day, early 90's, I used to be a route sales delivery driver for a soft drink company driving Tractor/trailers.

My main delivery area was Santa Cruz. There was not a lot of parking anywhere in the city for those large vehicles while delivering to small mom and pops shops and I'd have to double park on the road with flashers. I'd just hit the airbrake and jump out to drop off a few cases or quick delivery. I cannot tell you how many times (seriously, almost daily) crazy women jumped in the vehicle and shut it off with rants on diesel pollution, ozone, etc. Once caught a lady trying to steal the keys.

It's all misdirection to the public.

    ZERO EMISSIONS!!!
Maybe from the end product but not from the process. It's bullshit.
Ask how many crApple iphones actually get "recycled". I've watched the garbage truck and the recycling truck dump their payload into the same "stream" containers at the "Green facility". They don't give a crap. It all goes into our earth. We might think an EV is cleaner just because we don't see the filth associated with giving the consumer a "eco-friendly" product they can feel good about. But what they don't know, they don't care about. If it's not at their door, they don't give a shit.
We are all guilty of not giving a shit, but please let's not be ignorant of the fact that mining and manufacturing, "recycling and reusing" all has a cost to the planet. The only difference about why nothing will change is because none of us have to actually do anything about it TODAY.
Shitting on the sidewalk is exactly what humans are doing to the entire planet. We just point the finger and the next guy and say "not my problem".
Zero accountability is a more accurate description.

I don't think EVs are the future. I'd like to see more focus on hybrid and hydrogen fuel cell vehicles. None of that PHEV crap, either. I'm not plugging my vehicle in so I can pay for coal to be burned to charge it.

You nailed it and yes that Electric Torque is awesome. The electric/battery pollution, on the other hand, out weights ‘ancient’ gasoline/oil pollution.

The whole rationale behind ‘battery’ and ‘renewable’ energy was because its ‘clean’. Which it is not. They call it ‘Clean’ which becomes Mantra without thought.

With years of Brain Washing(ton) behind the ‘clean tech’ drumbeating$, we are finally seeing people come on board to ‘battery powered’ without second guessing the negative impact that caused their ‘green movement’. Short sighted is the term.

The Laws of Thermodynamics haven’t changed, but ‘thinking’ has. Its amazing we still are having to explain the differences in thinking. Its almost like talking with a one way cult that preaches ‘Open Mindedness’.

We get Preached at about our ‘Horse and Buggy Thinking’, yet:

    1) The greenies love to dig up the Earth (see negative Rare Earth Mineral mining pollution).

    2) Make Solar Farms which are made from Mining and take up valuable Earth Space for farming/trees.

    3) Repeat their Mantra typing from a polluting computer about their polluting batteries powered by Windmills that create ‘Sound Wave Pollution’ and also Kill Birds.

    4) They refuse to live in the wild without energy living off the land free from ‘evil’ polluting devices yet think they know better than an ‘Oil Loving’ Cave Man Knuckle Dragger. Hypocrisy comes to mind.

I have the option to buy gas from a Fred Meyer store (good price and a discount due to my grocery buying there). But, I choose to purchase from an independent Mom 'n Pop station. The place is always clean and the attendants are friendly and polite, give my dog a biscuit and engage in some banter. In Oregon, we are not allowed to pump our own gas (I've been told that I cannot be trusted), so I usually leave the attendant a few bucks in tip.

I don't live in Calif. and doubt that I ever will. I honestly don't have strong feelings about Petaluma's decision about new gas stations. If I find myself passing through Petaluma and out of gas, then I'll likely have something to say! But, it is only rational to think that the future of automobiles and trucks will be in hybrids and electrics. The transition will be painful for some, expensive and complex to execute, and likely include increased transportation costs for our thirsty Tundras. C'est la vie. I suppose I could throw a tantrum, move to Texas, or buy a Prius. But, I don't have to and so I won't.

I look forward to seeing the new Tundra, especially the hybrid assist if/when it is available. The technology will continue to improve, more power, better batteries and more range. The development is still in early stages and only now, are we starting to see economy of scale. I'm a firm believer that we change, or we die.

However, I dig my current dyno fueled Tundra more everyday, and doubt I will feel compelled to sell it in the next 10 years. By then, the 5th Gen. Tundra should be tried and tested and perhaps I'll be able to afford the base model!

Petaluma has 16 gas stations in 14.5 square miles, I don’t think anyone is going to have a problem getting gas for awhile.
