Anyone have a dyi on how to remove the 2 grey pieces on either side of the radio that contain the air vents, the grey door pieces and the grey around the shifter? Wanna plastidip these pieces blue.

Haven't looked fully into it, but I can tell you for certain that the "two" gray pieces are actually one piece that are joined behind the radio and a/c console. You have to start by removing everything between them, I.e. A/c controls and radio.

I was walking through the dash assembly area in the plant this morning trying to figure this out. From what I can gather, it all looks like snap-ins except for 2 bolts right below the radio.

I'll probably try to tackle it this week, and make another little diy to let everyone know how hard or easy it was.

This might help...Found a section on dismantling the dash / radio in this installation video of the iPhone mirroring product being installed in a 2015 Tundra that I found here http://www.beatsonicusa.com/if02ep.html

That's pretty much all there is to it! Took the pieces off earlier. Wish I would have seen the linked video first. Lol. There are 18 plastic clips on the gray bezel piece that hold it on. I will get all of my photos and try to put together a DIY thread for all of the chrome trim pieces for future one stop shopping.

Thank you ChucklesToy for the video.

You are most welcome. I just happened to see that video when investigating another post about installing the iPhone mirroring product. Pretty timely. What I was also looking for is how to disassemble the chrome piece around the shifter to plastic-dip it. The video shows how to remove the console piece around the shifter, but not the chrome piece. Any help is appreciated.

Spray. Wanted that same light metallic look the other interior trim has. Scuffed the chrome pieces with 180 grit sandpaper. It was about 5 light coats of the paint.

No. White. But will soon be red accented, much like my FJ was. FJ reincarnated---but with way better gas mileage.

Thanks!! So a 5 month later update...

Some on the rings around the AC vents are starting to show signs of paint flecks coming off. The cup holder too. My ring and coffee cups are the culprit. Will have to redo this job.

Advice: sand the bajeeeesus out of those rings to help with paint adhesion, and take the time to apply MANY thin layers of paint.

did you clear coat it? I debated doing the same thing but with kiddos and a wife, my time on truck mods has to be like an hour or less.

I did not clear coat. In hindsight, that probably would've helped with the wear n tear. Basically where the few spots the paint is coming off I can see my "sanding" job was not up to par. :(

How are the chrome rings attached on the trim piece on the left of the steering wheel and the trim above the glove box? What about on the radio bezel?
Trying to figure this out when its time to do mine. Going to be ordering OEM black radio bezel. I'm almost positive the radio bezel in black from the SR model that i plan on ordering will have the black rings. Just not sure if the two trim pieces will be worth ordering(part 3 and 4) The left SR trim piece is different then the PRO. Any feedback would be great. Thanks

    In your picture/attachment, box labeled #3 &#5...

The whole unit pops out (#5)....once out, if I recall, a small Phillips will detach the ring pieces.
