Rotated Rear TRD Sway Bar

For those who rotated the rear sway bar up 90 deg, did you grind the brackets for weld seam diff clearance?

 

I did not and no issues with mine.

 

Do you have pictures, close up pix of the mounted brackets?

 

Yes it still performs the same.

 

If you're just trying to gain length on the sway bar links why not just buy some Hellwig adjustable sway bar links. I have the Hellwig sway bar with a 6-in lift and it's put in there as it was designed to be and everything is straight with the adjustable links. Just an option.

 

I'm doing it for this exact reason and to gain clearance.

Wow, I've seen some Rams with there sway bars indexed like that. Didn't know we can do that with Tundras.
When I removed the SB from my 2013 and put it on my 2018, I noticed a couple of scratches from when I hit something with it. Been wondering if I could do this to prevent that from happening again and now I know, thanks!

 

I just put a new TRD bar on mine a couple days ago. I just followed the instructions that came with it and mounted the SB the normal way. - But I can definitely see mounting it this way above for extra ground clearance....

 

Do you guys see a noticeable difference between the stock sway bar and the TRD sway bar?

 

You should cut a c-notch in the bracket so it clears the weld on the axle.

 

Does anything need to be done to the endlinks?

 

Are you referring to the stock front away bar vs the TRD one? Most Tundras don’t come with any rear sway bar, I believe just the Pro and Sport models. Adding the rear sway bar makes a big difference. I’ve heard the upgraded front improves the handling some but not a drastic change.

 

So if I wanted to install Coachbuilder +3 shackles, would rotating the sway bar in that way be enough for everything to line up?

 

Just make sure they are the appropriate length for what you are doing, mine are shorter than stock because I hung the leaf packs under the axle.

 

IMHO, the TRD front sway bar made no real difference in the handling that I could feel. The rear made the difference.

 

Florida trucks are so pretty underneath.
