Mail theft

Thieves really piss me off. Luckily, the dumb bastards broke into it on Sunday night and we'd picked up our mail Saturday night. I'm not sure yet how many of my neighbors suffered losses. Looks like we'll be forced to use some of our road repair funds to purchase new mailboxes.

 

That's idiotic!

A month or so ago when I was getting my tax info via mail from my current and past employer, I saw my mail had been opened. All my stuff was in there but the envelope was clearly opened (SSI nbr, address, etc was all stated) have been monitoring my credit since and looking into ID theft prevention services.

I'm wondering if it was the mailman though. On one occasion, I had brought my dog for a walk, no mail, when I came back 15 mins later, it was there but tax stuff was opened.....

Thieves and looters are among the lowest of the low in my eyes!

 

Jackasses. These people need a beating when they get caught.

info like that usually gets sold on black market..it might be months before they use it so if they got your SSN, you should get some monitoring service for at least a year.

I use a po box for my W-2 and for important papers when they are coming in.

Problem solved.

 

I looked at lifelock recently. Heard good and bad things from people I know. A friend of mine had lifelock and he and his wife took out a car loan, no one from lifelock notified him so he gave it a week then cancelled it.

 

I've heard the same. Both good and bad. Gonna do some more research before zeroing on one service.

Same here. I'll let you know when I make a decision. Might. It be until mid summer or fall. Busy season coming up at work myself.
