So I just bought an 08 sr5 DC and noticed that it would not beep upon lock. After reading up i found that it will not beep if one of the doors are not locking. The rear driver side door does not lock or unlock via remote or lock/unlock switch inside cab. I took off the door panel and it looked like all the cables were connected. I removed a couple of the wiring harnesses and re inserted them. It still does not work properly. What should I be looking at replacing to fix it? Control module? Other electrical part? Thanks.

Pretty sure that should be the doorlock actuator. I've read that they are prone to fail over time.

I agree, door actuator. I've had to do a couple on my 95 4Runner. Not to hard but they're not cheap.

On the 4Runner they were an electric actuator that just controls the lock.
They'd work fine manually and w the key, just not with power buttons. They were about $90 a piece.

Hardest part of the job was removing door panel without breaking any little fasteners. If you don't have one pick up one of those body panel tools. You can vet a cheap plastic one for under $10

Did you get it figured out or do you still need help?

Well I opened the door panel and all that crap. I still have to order the part. I've only done a quick search but found one for $60. I'll look more into in in an hour or so when I get out of class.

Yeah I have one but it wasn't with me at my fiancées place so I just jerked it off like I usually do. Only broke the black one at the top but I have more of those from my old Tundra.

Take a closer look through the forum. I believe I've seen a thread where someone replaced the motor in the actuator instead of replacing the entire unit. It was a lot cheaper.

That's great advice. I never even thought of looking for just the motors.
    Next time.

Also, the Lock/Unlock beep can be turned off / on under custom settings using Toyota Techstream. The absence of the beep does not necessarily mean there is a malfunction.

You can also make it unlock all doors with one push of the button.

Alright. So upon reading the other forums, I guess I still have to modify the new motors or the worm gear. I think I read that the door wont shut without the actuator so Ill probably have to do this all in one shot. It will be a few weeks before I have that kind of time :(
