What have you done to your 1st gen Tundra today?

Since we're talking about the online parts program... I've been using it a bunch. One local dealer participates (45 min drive). Prices are way lower than other dealers. They offer in store pickup or free shipping (over $75 order). Few times I've been short of $75 so I throw in some extra filters for the Tundra and Camry to put on shelf. So I've been really happy with this program!

I need to do this. I recently found out the Chinese are also making fake OEM oil filters. I had ordered a bunch of Toyota filters off ebay last year for our Rav4. Fast forward to the next oil change and when I removed the oil filter, it was crushed. It looked like someone had taken it in their hand and squeezed it. They are the cartridge style. I didn't know what to make of that, and didn't think much more of it until I saw the thread about fake oil filters. According to that thread, if they say made in Thailand they are real, the fake ones say made in Japan which is wrong. Mine say Thailand but I'm going to toss them just to be safe. I don't know if they are making fake ones for our trucks but nothing would surprise me at this point.

Yeah and its 30 more than mine, but since going on my Wurrld Peas Energy Reduction Programme I’ve freed up a few Amps to share around the Globe. I feel like I’m making a difference even though I’m not.

So there was definitely something whack with the cut on the speed bleeders from Napa 10m x1.0 x35mm
They threaded in super loose and weren’t tight until you got to the seated position; this made it a bitch to “self bleed”
So I ordered some speed bleeders from Russel; oh my they were robust and I had to use a socket to spin them in after 1-2 thread engagements! So I swapped out the rear drum bleeders for the ones made by Russell; the 7m bleeders from Napa worked fine.....
And I used a new Schmancy brake bleeding kit! Hook it up to your tire for pressure, set the regulator, use the included cap that adapts a quick fitting to our resi, then either fill your resi and fill their resi, or just fill your resi(I chose this route so I didn’t get the brand new resi dirty for such a quick bleed) and then go to town!
My rears had a few air bubbles but the rest looked good, I’ll rebleed in another month or so.

 

Nice. Post up those Russell Bleeder Part #s. I tried to figure out their system online before going NAPA, but they didn’t seem to offer Toyota from what I remember.

 

So I think we can agree, the rears are 10m x 1.0 x35mm overall
The fronts and the proportioning valve and the one on the master are the 7m x 1.0 x 32mm
I’m not sure, but I think I found a big breakdown chart on Russell’s web site and crossed it over for the thread size I needed. They do seem way more beefy than the Napa ones.

I thought for sure there would be at least one participating dealer in the valley but nope. Not surprising since it reflects the same unwillingness to bargain I've experienced in person.

 

Spent the afternoon installing some OEM Lower ball joints and new spindle and axle dust seals on each side.

I also thought my mileage this morning was neat. It's crazy to think I bought the truck without any mods and with only 50k miles about 6 years ago.

 

It's been brought up to me more than once that I should get a "new" truck, or new to me anyways. I've been told that I drive the oldest vehicle of anyone on my shift.



Thats fine if that's your style. I just can't see myself signing up for $750 a month for 84 months. Or more like the ford at the top.

I just got rid of my 2018 f150...450 a month not including insurance..it was a good ride..but not having a payment and getting rid of debt is way better.

 

Don't listen to those idiots. I wouldn't be surprised if they live paycheck to paycheck with those hefty payments.

 

No plans to do so. I love my lil ole truck. It may get me into trouble, may not be able to get out of the driveway some days, or other situations but it doesn't cost me an arm, and a leg. Lol

Monthly payment for over the last 36 months is $194.4 if my upgrades are broken down into months.

 

and I can only assume that number will go down as you sort thru and take care of things. I’m sure I’m at or above that, but it’s nice to know things are done properly, and will last just as long as what you pulled off to replace.

 

Hell yeah. Man..before the f150 for me I had a98 frontier, and jumped on the new truck/car bandwagon... Bad idea.. the new truck was nice and did a alot of hauling for me... But I don't miss it. More excited about the tundra to be honest.

 

Yes, I agree. I like to feel the torque wrench click in my own hands versus having to take the word of someone else. I trust Bruce (local mechanic) but I can't imagine paying him to do the same job that I did when I greased my frame, or repaired my bed.

It may have taken me a month, but it was a quality damn job!

Satisfaction in being a dirty grease monkey myself is priceless. Irreplaceable.

 

Collected more parts for the ole girl.

black spidertrax spacers showed up. Plus ordered some energy suspension sway bar bushings and new links..... maybe one day she’ll come together

Those people are sheep and they're probably broke. Why on Earth anybody would want to throw out 20, 40, 60k PLUS interest and financing fees for a new truck when they have a functional, dependable, and paid off truck is a mystery to me. Those are the same people who think their car has a lot of problems because every time they go to the mechanic something is found that "needs" repair. Keep in mind 80% of people who own a truck absolutely do not need a truck.

I have lots of friends and family in this boat. I've tried teaching them but they want to throw money away. Let them keep the economy going.

my OCD wouldn’t let me ordered the blue ones most everything going on the truck is black and silver lol. Had I went kings for the coil overs I’d probably have blue though lol. Only blue I’ve got is stickers on the control arms
