So I searched around but couldn’t get a clear answer in regards...

I currently have Baja Designs yellow dogs in the factory location. They are excellent but too bright for oncoming traffic. I love their company and product (they make it very clear the lights are for off-road use only which is entirely on me).

I was going to put the stock LED fogs back on but I really prefer yellow light...

Question #1 Are the Diode Dynamics yellow Sports going to better than the factory LED? More brightness is okay but I don’t want to turn them off when traffic is near...

Question #2 I am aware the the PRO is much brighter and better value than the SPORT. However are the PROS going to put me in the same boat as my Baja Designs?

The Tundra LEDS headlights are better than my 5th gen 4Runner or any Tacoma I owned. So I am looking for a little better fog lights instead of a driving light.

    Thanks!

Greatly appreciated...unfortunately I did read through this tread and it was highly informative and one of the reasons why I am willing to purchase the Diode Dynamics. It seems in general there is very little talk about the Sports in comparison to the Pros.

If angled correctly, neither the sports or pro will blind oncoming traffic.

I have the white sports on my trucks and they are a lot brighter than my stock fogs. I have had them for about 6 months or so, I have been flashed a handful of times, but usually it is when I am going uphill so they are angled up. I did have to zip tie them in place because they were bouncing around in there.

I have a set of the pros and have them angled low. They are very bright. I don’t know how they look to oncoming traffic but I shut them off for oncoming vehicles. Main reason I got them was for driving very early in the morning and want to see deer on side of road before they run out. They do a great job of that. Very wide beam.

I have the amber sports and the cut off is great. No problems here with oncoming traffic when angled right.

Not a direct comparison, but we have the DD SS3 Pro's (in SAE Fog, white) on my girlfriend's Tacoma; after getting them aimed correctly she has only been flashed once (while cresting a hill); their cut off is impressive to say the least. I also have a few friends with the SS3 Pro's in yellow SAE Fog on 4Runners, and again, after aiming them correctly, no issues with blinding oncoming traffic

I have a set of SS3 Max's in SAE Fog (yellow) on the way for the Tundra (and SS3 Max in white spot, but that's for another day), they should be here this week.

I guess you never said it, but when you say you currently have BD yellow fogs which model of light exactly do you have? Squadron sports or perhaps Squadron pros in a wide cornering pattern? I can help you out with comparisons once I know exactly what you're working with.

I am a retailer for both of these brands, and I can tell you as far as a true fog light (that is also legal) there is nothing better than the DD SS3s currently. If road legality isn't an issue for someone I can generally make a case for the BD products!

Baja design SAE fogs have a horrible cut off compared to the diode dynamics. If you want SAE fogs go with diode dynamics ss3 pros

You could see about contacting Baja and see about changing the lens to their SAE . Might he more cost effective.

    Thanks! That would be great...D953DAAE-5122-440E-819C-5BF007E41417.jpg

Additionally, street legality is important to me because I would like the benefits of a fog on my Tundra. The 4Runners headlights were so bad that the Baja driving lights were warranted. Therefore I was willing to sacrifice fogs.

I thought the same way you did and called them. Unfortunately they are different so I will probably be selling the Baja’s cause I have nothing to use them on..

Okay nice. So the lights that you currently have are a nice overall light as they add some distance as well as some width. That said... They are very much NOT street legal. Lots of glare to oncoming traffic.

The SS3 sports, pros, or even maxes are are a street legal option (when ordered with a SAE fog pattern). They have defined cutoffs and smooth spreads of light out to the sides, but won't have the distance reach. Please know that the SS3s will definitely not look the same as the Squads do on the road, but they are a very valuable improvement.

Correct. Different lenses, different reflectors, and a lower light output. BD definitely won't sell you an "SAE conversion".

Use them as ditch lights since you have them already.

I kinda of figured as much about the light output. Their awesome but I can’t use them near any other vehicle. Will I still get the road shoulders and such (width I am guessing)? I would like to PM you as well if that is good. I am very interested in purchasing from you due to the help you’ve been... Thanks again!

Yeah go ahead and shoot me a pm whenever. To answer your question, and any else's that may be lurking these have BOATLOADS of width. Here's a recent customer. He has projector headlights that already have a pretty wide beam, and you can see how much wider the SS3s get outside of that. His camera settings were fixed, but I can't tell you what the numbers were.

I wanna give a big thanks to @memario1214 for hooking me up. Excellent price and excellent service! He absolutely deserved my business for all the information and feedback I received.

And I appreciated everyone’s replies it was very helpful. I purchased the Pro orange fogs. Now I just have to order new black plastic bumper housing because one broke when I installed my Baja’s.

76F36945-DD85-4069-ACF6-DC3AA8E31CDA.jpg So this is how I did my zip ties... I also put one of the inner sides and two on the outer sides. I think I went a little over board but it’s seems really firm in there now. I am taking the trick for a ride tonight to see how well I aimed them.

I just got back from a ride and I am very impressed. They are aimed as low as they can go and I have an incredible amount of side and frontal light. I passed many low to the ground vehicles at stop lights and country roads without getting flashed.

With that said they definitely aren’t as bright as the Baja Designs amber driving lights.

    But...

1.) the BD’s were too bright around any other vehicles...really not safe. I did know this going in so I knowing used them improperly. That’s on me...

2.) because of #1, I was rarely ever able to use them. It was only on desolate roads.

The DD’s are a perfect fit for how I use the Tundra. I got much more brightness than the factory LED fogs and most importantly its constant usable light. And they mesh very good together with the factory LED headlight.

Thanks again to all of you’s that contributed :hattip:...the swap to especially the PROs were worth the money.

A few weeks and long trips with the SS3 Max's at night and never been flashed, but light output is amazing
