Haha I had the opposite, I was a smoker, so the window was usually down. But towards the end of my career of professional long distance driving, I kinda timed the sun just right, drive up “north”early with the sun to my east,
And head back south around 12-3ish, but that’s a fantasy- it was usually driving back home around 7pm nearly able to keep my eyes open.

let’s hear some mail stories!!!

 

Every year family would send me Cash for my birthday in a card. It usually never made it. Why did this happen so much?

 

I second the sun hat and sun glasses. Amber lenses are super easy on the eyes when driving. I am super pale so I have to be careful about the sun. Covering your skin and wearing loose, light clothing can go a long ways.

 

This is why so many people look like the Mailman.

 

Looking for factory specs for coil packs and MAF sensor. According to my substandard research the '04 Sequoia and the '04 Tundra share the same coil packs.

Anyone got a lead?

 

Look for Denso 1303 and confirm. Should cost about $55 each.

MAF you can source through Hitachi.

The coilpacks were $105 a piece on a parts.toyota discount site.

Check the FSM for Spec Resistance.

These Densos are legit. Bought them 2 years ago when I went Full Monk Prayer and Meditation Technique in my search for Direct Sources. The MAF is like $170 from Stealers and can be had for around $50, as well.

This part is replaced by 90919-02259 ($105) currently. I'll check and see if the Denso 1303 will work.

 

I have some used ones for Sale in the Sale Section. They still Spec, but have cracks in them. Cheap for quickie replacements or run’em until they blow.

 

Living in Central Cryogenica (Vermont, that is), I find that I MUST leave a pair of polarized sunglasses in the truck - sunshine (when we have it) on snow is very dazzling.

When I was a service plumber I had a farmer tan with a trucker tan combo. First few days of Summer I pretty much stayed up to my neck in Ocean until it evened out.

So some questiin for the guys who have seen and heard it all. Got myself a 4wd. Potentailly better than my xj and toting my dog and i to adverse terrain. Where do i start? Whats the weak link? Spindle lift and 35’s? Dual batteries and hd alternator? Whats the consensus on electically locked 4wd, and who helps the 2uz reach its full potential? Whats to be had for swapping for 1st gen sequoia brakes? Where do i mount my light bar without cutting the grille? Can i sell my flares and steps for profit?

 

My brain locked up.

Yep, high albedo surfaces, the desert sand here can produce a very similar effect. I use a polarized amber/yellow Oakley lens 90% of the time in my dirt bike goggles, it's amazing how much better they outline shadows in these environments compared to dark lenses.

@Darkness What do you use when you're boarding?

 

My favorite lens choice for driving was “blue blockers” w tortoise shell frames.
I now spend money on good shades; and a nerdy neck strap because I’ve trashed to many pair falling off my shirt or head.

 

My sister got me clear blue blockers to use with computers, I need to try them out more. I also second the neck strap - I got a neoprene one that floats since I've lost a few pairs of glasses in the river...

I’m try to be on the water a lot as well, so I usually stick to polarized lenses too

 

I don't know where she got them but they were cheap. They do a good job of blocking blue light from the computer screen but I don't know if there is any science behind them.

then; lube the zerk fittings, be sure all your fluids are fresh. See if your rear diff breather is working - probably full of grit by now, & while you're working with it might as well do a relocation to higher ground. Don't forget to change your diff fluid front & rear. Is your p-brake cable tidy or drooping? Your accelerator cable probably needs a slight tightening by now to smooth out your acceleration...

When's the last time your timing belt was changed?

So many cool add on's - but get to a good solid base line first. Light bars & suspension upgrades are useless when your timing belt snaps.
Save a lot of chasing your tail later on. Nice looking rig, welcome & good luck w/ it.
